Hi /3/ I am having some trouble and I could use help if anyone can offer any. Did a model in max the other day, made it both low and high poly, problem now is I am trying to use Xnormal to create normal maps using cages as instructed but I keep getting artifacts all over the place, does anyone know how to fix this?

OK so I'm experiencing Krakatoa for 3Dsmax. I red a lot of stuff online, but it seems there's something I don't understand. Here's my problem : I've got a FumeFX Simulation (a candle-like flame) converted in Particle Flow. I then try to render the result with Krakatoa. In PFFlow, the particle count is about 600000 ; I'm supposed to use Krakatoa's partitionning in order to "pre-render" .prt files that whill, because of the PFflow seed, increase the total particle count without. So I partitionned my 677 frames simulation with 15 partitions and a PFFlow count of 600000. I loaded'em in Krakatoa's PRTLoader. The problem is that no matter the number of partitions I create, my system looks exactly the same ! It seems to have the same number of particles, without partitions, without seed... While searching on the net, I found a lot of guides and tutos related to PRTs and the PRTLoader, but none of them speak about PRT's seed, so I guess I'm doing something wrong here. Have you any litterature about this ?

So with rs about to hit the bucket, what are some good learning resources on there or other places that I can grab? Right now just /rs/ stuff that I can get before it's all gone, but anything useful would be nice. I already know my way around max and a few other programs fairly well, but just assume I want to self teach myself as much as I can with the goal of making a career in threeee deeeee

Does /3/ create their own textures? How do you do it? Do you sit at a computer all day collecting hemorrhoids like a fatass? Or do you walk around outside taking pictures at walls and fences all day with a camera around your neck like a hipster? Which is better for what situation?

So wtf is wrong with front view? Nothing i do will make the camera display my character at all. How did it get like this? i was using front camera and then switched to perspective by clicking in view port. Doing that for some reason completely fucked everything up in front view. When i frame my selection with the 'f' key he appears and it zooms in to center him within the view however as soon as the zoom stops my character and the grid just disappear. Anyone have any solutions or suggestions? its driving me mad

Sup t/3/apots.I have been away from the 3D scene for 2 years. My question: I am looking into an intuitive sculpting program. I think Zbrush is great but the interface turns me off. How is mudbox compared to Zbrus? Anyone tried mudbox 2014? My goal is to create models and normal maps etc in an intuitive, simple sculpting program and then use the models/maps in 3DS Max or Maya. What would you recommend? I would also like to texture paint models, can this be dome in Zbrush or Mudbox? Are there any other good sculpting progs?

sorry for the pleb post because im just starting out. holy fuck this fucking this is difficult. EVERY THING IS A FUCKING ISSUE Im using 3ds max and can see everything in the model is secretly made out of triangles but they wont let you directly manipulate the inner triangles. i move vertexes in the same way but get different results because of how the inner triangulates are constructed. how can i view the triangles without porting it to Unity3d like i did for this pic. and how can i model in such a way which would be triangle oriented instead of fucking it hiding the triangles on me and preventing me from doing anything. is this shit easier in maya?

Is there any reason why an IK control might ignore it's pole vector constraint? My rig can barely squat without the ankle on the left foot doing an unreasonable large rotation that sends the knee pointing off to the side. Absolutely destroys the leg geometry and i cant come up with any solutions
