Does /3/ create their own textures? How do you do it? Do you sit at a computer all day collecting hemorrhoids like a fatass? Or do you walk around outside taking pictures at walls and fences all day with a camera around your neck like a hipster? Which is better for what situation?

Hey /3/, I've got a real quick question. So when using blender, the topology changes when I switch from side view to free view, how do I make that not happen? Also, this is my first time modelling anything ever. So I know some of the topology and anatomy is fucked, I decided that I should just push through and correct mistakes on the next model. Any tips or critique is highly appreciated.

Hey guys i dont understand this problem I'm having, I simply can't make any sense of it and neither can the many different, reworded google searches that i have done. Im rigging up my dude, I have three spine controls and they require parenting so that selection of the lowest control will select all three. When parenting, Maya seems to think I'm asking it to translate and scale down my control. Pic related is a before shot

So a while ago someone here made a post that went something like >using premade game engines like unity and unreal >not programming your game in opengl directly I've decided to try this but where the fuck do I start? All I know how to do is make self-contained console applications in C++, and yet now I have to install some GLEW and GLUT and SDL and link it all through the linker in VS Express and what the fuck am I even doing. I actually wrote my own clone of OpenGL in python at one point from scratch because I was so frustrated trying to figure out how to get what should be a text editor with a "compile and run" button to cooperate. It was slow as all hell, so fuck that. Then I finally get SDL set up and I don't even know if I have opengl in it or not, all the code I try to run stolen from "hello world" examples online doesn't compile and every example is using a different version of opengl or SDL and I just feel like I am over complicating this and need to know the easiest possible way for me to have a text area, a "COMPILE" button, and opengl that I can easily use to follow online tutorials. I realize this is probably a post for /g/ but I'm hoping some techhead game dev passes by here and gives me a point in the right direction.

Anyone on /3/ interested in making models for a game? It's a multiplayer free-roam city game based off an ancient runescape client. The type of models needed are simple low-poly items and props. (The graphics aren't the greatest -- but this will eventually be ported to mobile anyway). We have made significant progress thus far, and the game has a lot of hype already so it won't be a flop.
