Okay what the fuck I'm learning to use Maya 2013, and I loaded a texture from a .jpg file that I made, and it worked perfectly. Then I realized there was an error in the file, so I open up GIMP and fix it, re-load it in Maya, and all of a sudden it tells me it can't open it! What the hell happened?

Hey /3/ this problem has been driving me nuts and I can't find a solution. The picture shows an example of a model with a subdivision and an armature modifier in two different orders in the modifier stack. The one on the left has the armature first and then subdivision modifier while the one on the left has the subdivision modifier and then the armature modifier. As you can see the one on the left has a really nice deformation while the right one has a really ugly deformation where the upper part of the limb bends farther than the rest of the leg. The left one looks very nice but I need to export the model into another program and when I do I lose that nice deformation and when I play the animations it becomes the ugly one seen on the right. I've tried applying the stack but it just becomes the left one, and I don't know how to achieve the right results manually no matter how I weight the verts it just never looks as good as the left one. Has anyone else ever run into this problem before? Is there any way I can preserve how nice the left armature affects the model?

Hey everybody, i come to you in my moment of need. So, i'm kinda starting to use Arnold on maya and is fantastic, is fast and easy and the results are beautiful BUT when i tried to render a hair system it just didn't work. It renders everything but the hair. MtoA seems to be loading properly and i am using shave and haircut on Maya 2013. Also this message has appeared on the info as well... so i think this might be telling me what is wrong and so i've looked for it on the web but all i've found is people with the same issue, not a solution... Maya 2013 sourcing MEL override C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2013\scripts\mtoa\2013\mel\initDefaultFilters.mel pymel.internal.factories : WARNING : could not create a PyNode for manipulator type shaveBrushManip Any advise? besides "just use another render". Sure, i could use V-ray or mental ray too but Arnold speed is really appealing to me so if anyone knows how to fix this please do tell.

Hey /3dcg/, I have a question; do you think you could make a model as comparatively good as the final boss in :"WoW: The Burning Crusade". As in, can you make an asset for a 2 billion dollar a year video-game? If yes, then you are literally able to create video-game models worth approximately $5 million dollars (and that's being humble). Holyshit, WoW was a shitfest, I mean there was re-skinned and reused models fucking everywhere. Even for many boss fights. And they had this excuse that if they hired more modellers and artists that the styles wouldn't blend, but look at anime, they can have as much 20-30 different animators working on a show and the style doesn't suddenly go from K-on to Jojo..

is anyone able to upload anything to tf2 workshop today? there was update and I think something broke, when I try to upload texture to my model it says" error material vmt1 missing cloak effect " Im not making item for a spy so why would I need cloak effect, and Im uploading texture that I already tested in steam workshop preview before and it worked, so.. can anyone confirm if its problem with workshop, or just some error on my end?
