Hi I'm working on a little short video, I wanted to use a quick 3d model so I made this in sculptris because it was the quickest to learn with no expirience. Anyways I want to animate the head (Just have it slightly move and turn) and then put it in the little film. What software is easiest to use for this?

Hey /3/, I need some help. So I finished polypainting a traffic light. Since my computer is too slow to unwrap all using UV master I just grouped the UV's. The issue now is that some of my subtools are letting me create a texture from polypaint and some aren't. For some the option is just grayed out. Since I need to export the texture and normal maps for all the tools, merge the entire sculpt and then compile the high-res color information in Xnormal on the merged low-poly mesh, this is a problem, as not all of the textures are able to export. Anyone have any idea why that option would be grayed out? Example of what I mean:

just jumped from Mudbox to Zbrush. Thought I should try out sculpting in HD, and it's been pretty tedious all round. Would it be better to just apply bump maps in Maya for fine detail, and simply use displacement maps from the Zbrush detail? Is it worth all the time spent in HD? I'm creating a skeleton-zombie character, similar to the "boneys" from Warm Bodies.

Sup guys. I've got a question not narrowed to one program. What is the simplest way to make objects rotate on local axis while moving? Mathematically it would look like 360°x(1 program unit) or (2?r)x(1 program unit). Is there a way to insert these parameters to a modifier or a script? if yes, how? Pic somewhat releated.

how do I create a mildly interactive turntable flash animation of my 3D sculpt? I am using Blender but don't have Macromedia Flash. it's supposed to allow people turning the sculpt with some simple slider. no realtime 3D necessary. I can't find any solution and it's like it is impossible without Flash or really advanced Actionscripting knowledge.

ok guys, i just got a box on my porch this morning, it was my new 3d printer, i have some experience with 3d models. not much tho, i was able to calibrate it fine, and load the software fine, and looked thru thingiverse fine, got my file, loaded it, and the print started fine, obviously there was an issue. the issue being this printer has issues going from straight up surfaces to a horiztontal surface, this was an underneath surface, it failed, so the past couple hours have been me trying to learn more abou 3d models to fix my issue, im failing and i would like the request of someone who knows theyre stuff! this is where you guys come in, my request is simple, i need a single part of a 3d model cut off, and thats all. i lack the software and the knowhow to do it, and i know this is a SUPER simple thing for one of you, heres the link to the file i would like edited, and the image here is what id like removed. Can someone please help me so i can make my first print without fail! (and costing me $ this filament is pricey) I need the file to STAY .stl and be leveled, u guys know what Im talking about. Thanks in advance! I will totally post a picture here of the successful print once its done! it says 2 hours ish for my .2mm print speed. Again thanks in advance. Rage toolkit "broken"?

I want to start developping a mod for id's Rage. But I heard here and there the toolkit is "broken". Many things seems not to work, like importing custom models, etc. Wich is one of the reason why we don't see Rage mods. I asked if it was true in Bethesda's dedicaded forum but got no answser. So does anybody knows what exactly doesn't work, and why?

Hi /3/, I was wondering what is the most common modern game environment workflow. I'm very familiar with the workflow for characters, create high res sculpt, zremesh, clean up manually and apply the high res normal map/polypaint. But that is just one asset. How do artists go about generating huge sci-fi levels for example. Do they build an entire level in maya/max/modo and then export individual assets to xnormal and bake there? How do they get the low resolution geometry for the game?

When I am modelling a humanoid robot, am I supposed to be sticking pretty closely to human proportions? I'm going to be making fighting mechs with interchangable parts.

I forgot about this board . . .. as you can probably guess, I am usually on /pol/, so forgive me if my pic 'offends' (not that I give a hoot) My question concerns facial texturing in cycles, currently I revert to the Blender internal render and projection painting but cycles does not support this (replaced by texture stencilling, I believe) .. . I have had countless attempts at getting any decent results, all resulting in failure; And the only other information available concerning this just refers to texturing clouds onto a cube ???? . . .Pah?? Do any of you guys have a decent method for facial texturing in cycles?
