sorry for the pleb post because im just starting out. holy fuck this fucking this is difficult. EVERY THING IS A FUCKING ISSUE Im using 3ds max and can see everything in the model is secretly made out of triangles but they wont let you directly manipulate the inner triangles. i move vertexes in the same way but get different results because of how the inner triangulates are constructed. how can i view the triangles without porting it to Unity3d like i did for this pic. and how can i model in such a way which would be triangle oriented instead of fucking it hiding the triangles on me and preventing me from doing anything. is this shit easier in maya?

What are current issues / active developments in computer graphics programming? Well, what do they even do? Say, at Pixar, I assume they don't use CG / HLSL, but do they just find new, better ways to write shaders? Or is it something else computer graphics programming is?

Do 3D Artists for Game Development pipelines usually sculpt/model their characters with their mouths open or closed? I posted in the Zbrushcentral forums but still haven't got a clear answer. So obviously when adding teeth and a tongue I'd have to have the mouth open, but to what degree should I leave them open while sculpting, and will it being open ruin anything? Is there a way to sculpt lips first then open up the mouth to add teeth and a tongue?

Hey all. I have been having this problem with my rig for quite some time now. The mouth controllers on the edge of the mouth cage are position constrained to the point at the tip of the jaw bone and this problem appears whenever my characters head rotates. I feel that the problem is being spawn by doubling up of movements because of the weighting, but i have no real idea how to fix it. The hierarchy for the affected bits are as followed. mouth points to respective controllers controllers to a dummy dummy to head bone head bone to halo controller halo controller to neck The chin point is linked to the controller the cont is linked to the jaw the jaw to the dummy (used to attach to the head bone)

Alright guys, im new to the bored but figured there is probably no better place where I could get some tips. So I wanna learn modelling, probably hear that every day by people who try it once then bog it off, but I've been on and off since Christmas. I can't follow video tutorials and prefer written ones, but there's not many about. All I ask is, How did you become great in modelling, how did you learn, which sites to use and what not. Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated. P.s i use Cinema4D

Hey /3/-Pots, I have a problem with RPF files: I render rpf files via Cinema 4D and everything is nice and fine. The z depth works, the ID-Masks work, just nice but now I am rendering a scene with far fewer objects but the rpf files are really huge (1,4 -1,7 GB). All my previous files were "much" smaller with about 200-300MB per Frame. What's going on here? The only thing I can think of is that my current scene has less "smooth" surfaces with more different colors but this can't make such a difference in filesize can it? The Frames are 1940x1100. Is there a program which can edit rpf-files so I can maybe take a look inside and delete some unnecessary ID-Masks? Thank you for your help /3/s

how do I create a mildly interactive turntable flash animation of my 3D sculpt? I am using Blender but don't have Macromedia Flash. it's supposed to allow people turning the sculpt with some simple slider. no realtime 3D necessary. I can't find any solution and it's like it is impossible without Flash or really advanced Actionscripting knowledge.

Hey guys, this is a reference request. I am currently modeling Samus helm bust it's coming along quite ok. I am just having an issue finding some art/references of the side and rear of the helmet. When I start, I thought I knew the character well enough to wing it. The result side views look def Ridley Scott inspired (Xenomorph head)=P
