Pic VERY related!! Thinking about adding a Columbian Red Tail Boa to my small reptile collection. Any tips, suggestions, or personal experiences with babies? I have one other snake, a four-year-old normal morph Ball Python, but he came to me as a people-trusting adult. I have researched building trust with new baby snakes but would like to hear from personal experiences also!

my fish died today. had a bit of fin rot and i was giving her a melafix treatment, a little less than the recommended dosing. she looked like she was doing much better the past couple days, but she was gone this afternoon. could it have been the melafix, or just the timing of it?

So what breed would you say my cat is? He is supposed to be a short haired exotic but his face is a lot less flat that the pictures of all the others I've seen, although it is still flat. Any input on what breed he is is welcome. Thanks!

hey /an/ so to my luck, I happen to have acquired 3 buff orpington hens I live in a penthouse on the 9th floor and saw them outside. there is ample space for them to live, I even found 4 eggs (2 were broken) from where I'm keeping them (an abandoned apartment in front of mine) one of the hens looks exactly like in the picture, the other 2 are small white ones. what should I expect from these chickens, /an/? have I hit the no-need-to-buy-more-eggs-jackpot?

I'm not some ponyfag or anything, but just from a purely scientific point of view, do you think we could ever actually make a unicorn? I think it would be pretty easy. We already mapped out the genomes of several species, can grow legs coming out of flies' faces, and make glowing mice. Wouldn't it be possible to take say, elk DNA for the antlers, code it so it knows to grow straight, and weave it into horse DNA? The hardest part would be making sure it got put in the right spot, but if all went well it would tell the horse to grow a horn out of its face. It wouldn't even have to be from an elk, maybe even just elephant tusk DNA would suffice, or who knows what. I guess narwhals have unicorn-like horns, maybe one of them would work. But I think it's interesting to think about that soon we could be designing our own custom animals.

This is probably a bannable offence even if it isn't in the /an/ specific rules, but I'm surprised I haven't seen a thread similar in my time here. PeTA, basically. Should I listen to what they have to say? I've heard many things such as 'they paid those Chinese workers to skin those animals alive', 'they dump their euthanised pets in dumpsters' etc etc. Give me some sources, /an/, on both PeTA's claims and those that oppose them. (Just for the record, I'm currently on the non-trusting side. They just all seem like dicks, but I guess I can get behind a dick that is rational and utilitarian)

What's your opinion on the following Peta's video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rA2JuxRdlmA In my opinion this video is populist, demagogic and stupid. Some breeds are clearly better than others, take Border collie for example, this dog is a superdog and obviously much better than the average dog in a shelter, it's much more intelligent and useful. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying some dogs should have more right than other dogs, but to stand against "Breedism" because of muh doge liberty is just retarded. The only way to fight bad breeding is to lower the cost of the puppies, if a good puppy would cost not more than 100$ no one will backyard breed because there's no profit in it.

I just wanted to say, fuck these guys. No, really, squids are the dicks of the ocean >They eat basically everything and anything they can get their little Jewish arms on >They'll even eat each other >They've got beaks that can fuck up anything >They breed like fucking rabbits and starve out other local species >They're aggressive towards divers >And now there's 50 foot long ones down in the deep who attack whale bros I hate squid, they're a bunch of dicks

Does anyone know what is wrong with my house plant. It's leaves have been going brown gradually over a couple days and then fall off. and yet new bunches of leaves have been growing. is this normal or is something wrong with it?

Hey /an/ I'm really just looking for advice. I'm considering looking into getting a dog or cat. Not gonna lie, my home is pretty damn small (it's a small flat) I will have plenty of time to walk a dog, though a relatively non-hyper breed would probably be preferred if any. I work a rota each week, as does my boyfriend, but I have family living less than 5 mins away who would be able to drop in and check on it if we're out. If I had a cat, I'd really prefer to have an indoor cat since my area is not too nice. Again though, my place is small so I dunno if that'd be okay for a kitty. I just need advice. Really. Before you suggest, a rodent isn't viable. While I love rats my boyfriend does not, and the same goes for most rodents. I have absolutely zero experience with birds.
