What are some basic boxing... 2 posts and 0 image replies omitted. Click to view.
What are some basic boxing drills I can practice on the bag at home? I've trained in karate and taekwondo, and had a few boxing lessons years ago. I don't have the money to go to a gym, but I'd like to work on getting stronger punches. I know it's no replacement for a good coach, but this is the best I can do for now. Tips?

What currently practiced martial art comes closest to Rough and Tumble? If I want to win with disregard to humane takedowns and repercussions in a streetfight, what is the ideal combat art for me? Picture unrelated

Alright /asp/ies, since this board is slow as fuark lately here we go with question time. Whether you're aware or not, pic related is the movie that has been voted by /fit/izens as the movie that best represents the feels they feel. So, I ask you all, what movie best represents /asp? Well /asp/ is pro wrasslin, martial arts and the more dangerous of the weaboo arts, therefore I think it should be an anime that involves a tournament of all the martial arts to find out which martial art is best. Pro wrasslers and all associated storylines and tomfoolery would of course be included. Dumping with gifs because I'm bored waiting for 170 to start.

Pain learning a Martial Art

Here's the deal, I'm a Muay Thai newfag. Joined a gym a week ago, had two lessons so far. I am pretty unfit, (sedentary etc..), apart from sporadic lifting at the gym. Anyway, both lessons I got a leg (calf)cramp halfway through. In the first lesson it was so painful that I had to sit the rest of the lesson out, and I felt the pain for 2 days straight after. Today it happened again, but the opposite calf, and it was just as painful as before. Except It kind of faded, and I carried on with the training. Touch wood, I don't feel it anymore, so It was really different from last time as that hurt for days afterwards. We also did "clinch training today", where we must force our opponents head downwards, and also resist get pushed down with our neck. Not only did I suck, but my neck felt tight, strained and locked up straight after that particular exercise was over. Is this normal? I feel the pretty bad pain right now. It hurts to move, turn my head, and generally use my neck. How to git gud? (tips to avoid pain, cramps, etc. Thanks)

I've been watching the winter olympics and thinking that I'd really like to get into doing speed skating, but since I have no ice rinks nearby I'm not really able to. Does anyone on /asp/ skate using regular inline types going for speed? Any tips for someone wanting to get into it?

Anybody put their hands on (faces in) the new Virtue Vio? I've had Profilers for years, but I'm always in the market for something better. Primarily concerned with quality and FOV.

Hello /asp/. I've been experimenting with the gogoplata and I can't get it to work. As you'll see in the video embedded, they have one arm totally free to do with as they will. Not only that, the choke doesn't seem to be that tight and they can slip their head out more or less as will. It just doesn't seem to be working for me and I'm not sure why. As you can see in the pic related, I persuaded some large gentlemen to demonstrate the problem with the move. The one in the hold is doing so by showing how free his arm is. I see what he's doing, but there are more useful things he could be doing with it. Leveraging his opponent, pushing himself out of the hold, you know. Regardless, it's a problem. Anyway, I used the video as my reference point in learning it since no one at my judo club seemed familiar with the move. Nevertheless it was more or less dismissed as pretty useless. How do I make it effective? Is there some decent way to lock off that arm or to increase pressure on the throat? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTKDmjU88Jc
