To everyone interested in self-defense and personal space: Imagine a circle around you below your feet and a circle below the feet each person around you. This is your circle. These are the circles of others. You can change the size of your circle by will. Imagine a star in this circle. Each point of the star is a point where the person can reach their arms out or legs, to attack, or to touch. These star points move according to where you believe the person may move their arm or leg to attack. The space between each point is the space where one can land an attack if necessary. Use it as a barrier to keep unwanted people out of your circle. Keep everyone you don't trust, strangers, out of the circle. Practice it with your family, friends, and with everyone. Let your friends and family know about this circle. It's useful. Imagine lines all around you. Use these lines as barriers between strangers and unwanted people. Use objects around you as barriers if you wish. If you spot a person you don't trust, wait and count a few seconds before moving forward. You could use the objects in the same manner. The object already having formed your barrier, wait, count, then move forward. You can also use imaginary triangle to move according to the point of the triangle or the side of the triangle. With all these barriers you can observe others and watch body movement, listen. Move according to these barriers. Act according to these barriers.

Sup /asp/, let's have thread about throwing sharp shit. Knives, Axes or whatever other weird shit you throw. Talk about your favorite thing to throw, trick throws, whatever you'd like. Personally I'm fairly new to the whole thing, only owning a set of Black Ronin throwers and a set of stainless steel throwers made by a gentleman in the SCA. I've thrown knives, axes and spears(only once mind you), and so far I'd say axes are my favorite and I hope to own a nice set of bearded axes.

I fucking don't know what to do anymore, I busted my ass for 2 years training muay thai 4 hours a day in mexico preparing for fights, only to move to Hawthorne California and realize that Jimmy Smith no longer teaches at Sweet Science and it's a shit tier boxing "school" now, even worse is Systems training center who has decent trainers for jiujitsu yet shit tier "muay thai" and has no talent because no one joins because of their insane fucking start up fee of $350 and $150 a month. The fuck do I look like? I just want to train to fight yet no gym where the focus is fighting will accept me and the ones that do charge a fuck ton for shit tier instucters teaching one hour "classes" to higher middle class white people who are too much of a pussy to ever get in the ring and too scared of injuries and the insurance companies to allow training to occur. Even worse my school doesn't offer wrestling so my training is restricted to almost nothing. I'm willing to train mma or grappling anywhere right about now, guys what do I do, all of the good gyms who compete are private invite only, any advice? Being poor and all? >pic related, i'm on there but not saying where because 4chan

Hey /adp/ first post here but I'm looking for advice. My dojo closed down a few months ago and I'm having to look for a new place because I need the exercise. unfortunately it's an art I'm unfamiliar with. It's a kung fu dojo that starts with Chang Quan, which apparently is some kung fu derivative or something. would anyone be able to tell me if it's worth pursuing? I'd like to do it for the health benefits, exercise, mostly but it would be a bonus if it's actually practical and useful. as far as i can see, its not a mcdojo, it's relatively small and cheapish, which is a bonus.

I have been doing Shaolin Kung Fu for 2 years now, and I am quitting. Kung Fu died with the cultural revolution, my shifu even said that Shaolin has become a brand himself. So far, I have learned absolutely useless techniques except for a few basic throws, yet the people at my guan insist that we are learning to fight. All we fucking do is drill forms, and while I used to think they were cool, in reality they're cringeworthy dances. We only have at most an hour and fifteen minutes, and every day for like a month we either a. drill forms or b. do some compliant sparring one day, work on something unrelated the next day, ect. Today was the final straw. While relearning a choreographed fighting form with a coach, there was one move in where you choke the other person with one hand for all of about 3 seconds, and apparently I was doing it too hard, so what does the coach girl do? She says "If you ever choke me like that again I will literally punch you in the fucking face." What the fuck. I was told to choke, so I choked. Forgot that the trainer had a bad home life, fucking excuse me for triggering her. Why go into a fighting art if you're going to flip out if something reminds you of abuse? Screw Shaolin, UFC guys would mop the floor with a monk, they work harder than any monk at the temple does. I can't believe all the money I've wasted going to this fake school for a fake art. Fuck this, I'm going to judo. And yes, I am that scrawny manlet that made the Judo/BJJ thread a few days ago that got derailed into a /fit/ argument. Come at me CMA guys.

>What is the safest way to train? >What art do you do, how and what injurys do you have >Plan on training long term? MMA for 3 years, boxing at one. 4-6 times a week at 2-4 hours a training session for both. I am 5 weeks post ACL surgery / reconstruction. Have other knee with minor issues, right arm hurts depending on weather due to armbar, may have broke rib, unknown head damage. I have been going into weapons. Carry two guns 24/7 (I am limping around, my profession promotes guns) . Really begin to realize how limited your body can and soon will be.

I am looking into other martials to train with along with bjj (about 2 years of trainin). I would prefer to train silat, Krav Maga, wing chun, and I am aware many of you would protest doing most CMA and Asian martial arts but turn into a bear with me here. I would like to know what people typically cross train with bjj, and some atypical cross trainers with bjj

So with Brock facing Cena at SummerSlam, who do you think is going to win? As it's likely Brock might win, you also have to take into account his lack of appearences between SummerSlam and when he'll probably lose it (WrestleMania).
