Hey, I have bound a few of my own books, and am looking to refine a few details before I make a batch to sell. I cover the books in 500lb paper. I make collages on the covers as well. I am in search of a decent sealant that will [hopefully] be flexible enough to cover the whole thing. Suggestions?

CSS Pic related. Can't find answer anywhere else I've looked. I would like help preventing the text from returning to another line and to scoot down and fill the cell like normal text should. Here's the code for it: {font-weight:700; text-align:center; border:.5pt solid gray; white-space:normal; -moz-transform: rotate(270deg); -webkit-transform: rotate(270deg); -o-transform: rotate(270deg); -ms-transform: rotate(270deg); transform: rotate(270deg); border-right:1px solid black; border-left:1px solid black; border-bottom:1px solid black; border-top:1px solid black;} I've tried a few different things for close to an hour now, including adding %20 in place of the spaces, changing text-align: to right and left. Any ideas? Thanks.

How do I fix electrostatic discharge on laptop connected to an LED monitor via VGA? I believe it is a grounding issue. When the monitor is plugged in, I feel tiny electric at the edge of my laptop. Not if I unplug it or put my foot on an insulator (clothes). Is this something to worry about if it is connected for too long? Will my laptop fry?

Sup bros, I got a question. I've been toying with the idea of writing small poems into rubber coated weight plates. Just an artsy farsty idea of mine. What would be best to write with? Sharpie? Paint? I'm all ears.

/tg/ here. How much equipment do you need to start plastic injection molding, assuming you can already make the plastic yourself?

Soldering Iron

Soldering Iron 11 posts and 0 image replies omitted. Click to view.
Gentlemen of DIY, I need your wisdom. My soldering iron is dead and it needs replacement. It was a 2 pin 24VDC iron and I want to replace it with something of the same configuration. But wherever I search for a 24V model, it is always 5pin, never with just 2 wires. My question; is it possible to use a 5 pin model if you strip the cable and just use the 2 wires carrying the 24VDC current? The other wires are usually for temperature control, but wouldn't it still work without it?

Heyd for a good reason. I have some free time and I would like take up wood work. I have a decent shop available regularly so machinery and tools are of no issue of mine. The first project I'm attempting is simply a box for a chess set of mine. But I have a few questions. 1: wood used on the board/pieces if known 2: wood I should use for the box And 3. Any ideas on styles and design would be appreciated as I don't know were to begin. I'll post the board and the pieces as well

Hi, /diy/ I wanted to do something like the side picture, only with a lot more power. I have a ViperTek 15M watt mini taser to use as a base build(I had it from a christmas gift from my mother when I moved away) My to do list is as follows: 1. Switch out the slider switch with a rocker from RadioShack 2. Extend the leads from the contact points to a point on my glove so they don't come in contact with each other, sealing the leads with tinfoil 3. Mount the electrical components to a project encasement 4. Solder and test I was just wondering if I'm missing a step at all, or if I'm being completely dumb and it won't work? Any input is appreciated. And for the record, this is just an elecrical question, and not about weapons. I'm purely concerned with how the wiring would go, and plan to use this as a display piece for my home, since I'm a skrillex fan and love the use of it in Bangarang, however want it to be functional.

Can someone explain the difference between Japanese and US electricity? I see a lot on the net saying even though JPN is 100, using stuff in a 120 US outlet is fine. But does this apply to everything including stuff like toasters that generate heat? I don't understand.

If you could send a small care package to a god forsaken orphanage, what would you send? whatever you send would need to enhance their lives in some way. My thoughts are on providing tools for children to learn a semi-skilled industry trade or some level of education they otherwise wouldn't receive. I was thinking along the lines of sending craft tools like jewlery pliers for converting wire and beads into jewlery that could be sold at market and bartered for goods. what would /diy/ send?

'Sup /diy/ Someone in an IRC chat was telling me about a clay used by jewelery makers to make small casts for rings and such. Chat was not logged however and I have forgotten the name of it. It's not a polymer clay, it is reusable, and it began with "E".. Elphers Clay, Elmers clay, something like that. Anyone familiar? Pic somewhat related, this material seems like it would be very useful for casting small parts.

What should I do about this? The part at the very bottom is pretty much unreachable with a toilet brush. I've heard Coke is good for cleaning toilets-- can I just dump a 2 liter in there and wait? Pic attached; many thanks in advance.
