i found an old-ass laptop that has windows XP SP1 on it (was laying on the side of the road, full of porn and viruses). i want to format it. what OS should i use? this thing has less hardware than my cellphone, so i highly doubt it'll take windows 7 or 8.1. any Linux based GUI you can recommend? my intentions are as such: i intend to use it as a handheld ps1 emulator, and use it for arduino projects. i have no experience with any linux OS and my coding is pretty shoddy, so something to get me started?

Hey guys! First time I've really been on /g/. but I really need your guys' help. I'm a real dumbass to computers aswell, so i figured you guys could help me. So heres my problem... Everytime i boot up my computer (to the left) it goes to blue screen before I even get to the welcome thing windows does. A couple of months ago when i tried booting it also, it got to the welcome screen, but then did a graphic error messing up the whole screen before going to blue screen again. I also remember my computer doing some clicking noises aswell. Anyway, I think it might either be the graphic card or the hard disk (or both idk?). so what i was planning to do is taking the graphic card and hard disk from my brother computer and put it into mine to see if it works then. Probably try one at a time... But as I said, I am a massive idiot on this topic and I can't figure out how to (i know..). Sooooo... how do /g/? Left pc (problem) >Inno3D GTX 460 1GB Dual DVI HDMI GDDR5 >Seagate Barracuda 1TB Right pc >Ati Radeon HD4650 1GB Dvi Vga Hdmi Card >Seagate Barracuda 750GB

Motion Blur

Hello /g/ I have no idea if this is the right place to ask, but /p/ and /gd/ seem to discuss still images only. And a few people here seem to be experienced with encoding, at least. I'm searching for the "best" motion blur method for my video footage. I tried to google a little, but I couldn't find anything useful. I tried ReelSmart Motion Blur (imprecise, bluring things that dont even move), Resampling (too few in between frames) and various other effects in After Effects, but none of them delivered good motion blur. My current project has 160 fps footage, usually I work with 30 or 60. Any help is appreciated.
