So, which tablet do you find good and cheap enough for an average man to buy? I am draftsman and painter(not great yet), and i was thinking about making digital art. Also just graphics tablet related.

Hey guys, I just posted this on codingforums, figured I'd throw it up on here too, maybe some other people can also benefit if I receive any good info. Thanks in advance! Hello, I had a few basic questions regarding web forms. I am building a website for my father's construction business. I know basic html, css, and some javascript/jquery. I am looking to create a form on his "contact us" page that allows a visitor to input their name and phone number for a free estimate. I used php to create the form, and when I enter info into the form and click submit, my mail app pops up and asks me to log in to my e-mail (I'm on a Mac). What I am looking to do is have a form where they can enter some basic information, and submit it to me without actually sending an e-mail from their e-mail address. I am not even sure if php is the easiest way to go about doing this (I'm not even 100% clear on what php is used for exactly), I have heard that you can also create forms using html5. So basically, I need a form that allows a user to enter info, and when they press submit, it just goes to another page that says something like "Thank you for inquiring about a free estimate" without the need to log into an e-mail. I hope this makes sense to somebody. Thanks! -Mike

What are the typefaces Vignelli talks about in his "12 typefaces theory"? I keep googling it but I find nothing specific. I know most don't consider it to be true, but as a starter designer I want to have some sort of guidance in what typefaces I could use as I have no way to recognize good/bad ones.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but how do I achieve those cool pixely glitchy effects like in Pitchfork Weekly videos? What are the best pieces of software to do it?

I might be starting up my own Graphics design business, (Only going to be starting on the web at first) But if you guys have any tips on how to grab peoples attention that would be a big help because I want to start doing work for people cheap and then raise the price. My other clients that I have worked for have said it's very "Professional" - Any tips would help massively. Thanks.

Hey, guys. I'm currently working on a website for a rental hall, who wants a calendar for their schedule page. I was told that they want 16 months shown on the page which can have dates that change color based on availability. (red means booked, white/yellow means available, etc) I was thinking tables, but I'm worried about if the table itself will change based on the size of the page. They seem to want to make the site something they can browse on mobile. Not to mention they'd be a lot of separate tables close to each other. I could also just make them all images that I can update later on. I would never say this if they were the ones updating, but it seems like I'll be the one taking care of that, so that's why that's an option. How would you guys go about it? Would tables be my best bet, or should I just not bother and do the images? Or is there something else I'm clearly forgetting about?

I'm trying to make this map from a game which is circular into a rectangle I know real world map projections work because they are spheres, but this is simply just a circle so there's no algorithems involved What I'm trying to do bascially is squash the circle so that it turns into a rectange but I can't really find any tools on Paint.NET that would allow me to do this. If you imagine what I have is clay and then you imagine putting a rectangle around it to like say 16x9 aspect ratio and slowly closing it on the circle while maintaining the aspect ratio so the stuff morphs into the sides thats what I'm trying to do. I realise that it's not accurate but that's the point I have no idea how to go about this and GIMP nor PaintNET seem to have any noticeable functions to do this.

I'm working on an architecture portfolio, and I have two versions, a sample book and a complete works. Right now they're designed in opposite colors. For example the cover is red and major titles are red with blue minor titles vs the opposite for the other portfolio. Should I even bother? Should they just both be the same color set? It would be rare for a company to see both at the same time, but there was an occasion where I've given the full copy to the principal and the samples to the assistant during an interview.

>be around for over a year >not even 150,000 posts jesus christ guys, /biz/ is only 2 months old and it already has almost twice as many posts as you guys. And that's one of the slowest boards on this site. Why is this board so empty?

Please post youtube (or other) account of person you think makes useful tutorials. For me it's mostly stuff related to HTML/CSS and AI/PS that I look for, but feel free to post anyone you think is good. For starters I'll post Marty at Blue Lightening TV, he's succinct, usually has good methods, and I think his East Coast accent (new york?) is amusing to listen to. (no, Im not advertising for him this is just one I like) Maybe we can get it added to the sticky? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDfJlseFwUx2X0h3m5PRILA

I'm a programmer. This means that typically the stuff I prototype out looks like dogshit. You can always use bootstrap but I find that it looks like dogshit also. I wanted to start reading a bit more about how to design basic stuffs and arrived at this question: Are there some special rules on picking colors for the web? I believe that long ago (5-10 years maybe?) there was a thing called "web-safe colors" - is this still a thing or is this a relic of the times when most monitors were 1024x768? Can I pick whatever colors I want or are there some mechanical restrictions like X color range will look bad on the majority of monitors, etc?

Anyone using Macaw? Photoshop is too bulky, and Sketch is feeling buggy, so I'm thinking about giving it a try.

ITT: Post your favourite font, preferably one that most people won't have heard of (ie, no futura, helvetica, etc.) Can be a body font, display, etc, whatever. Mine is Dekar, it's not great at legibility but it looks damn nice for titling.
