I've just finished Kafka's Metamorphosis, searched and read around the internet, but I don't really understand what's the real thing behind this book. It can't be all about "the difference between mind and body", "sympathy" or "alienation". It's all absurdity to me and I really enjoyed the book. What do you think this book is really about?

So, any interest in bringing back the Metric, or TAR? They were the two biggest /lit/ zines. Those were the days, truly.

Hey everyone. I'm from Spain and I'm learning english, so in order to improve that language I would like to know some books quite easy for an intermediate level student. I don't care about the genre. pd: pic unrelated

In a post apocalyptic wasteland you have the last copy of [x]. It comes about that you're given the choice of either you or that book perishing. Which book is so important for humanity you'd sacrifice yourself for it.

Am I right in saying the Discourses on Livy are far superior to the Prince? I think I get why the Prince was written in relation to the discourses, but I don't get why everyone only reads the Prince, when its quite clear how the realism there is just a part rather than the whole of his philosophy.

Can anyone recommend me some good horror? Just read Stephen King's Pet Cemetery. It was good, but a little too light for me. Something darker and more philosophical would be nice

There's gonna be a presentation of this Vladimir Sorokin's new book tonight in Hungary. I'm going. I like his works very much, even though I can't really explain why, they are so weird, disturbing and frightening but very lyrical at the same time. I don't know, but there's definately something about them. So what does /lit/ or Russiabros - if any of you are here - think about this writer? Do you like him or not? Why? Do you think the picture of Russia he describes in his books is accurate? Discuss.

I'm looking for something funky and/or jazzy. Something black. Are there books capturing the essence of the jazz and early funk scene?
