I've never really visited this board before. Looks like it's mostly bikes and trains. But does anybody here like roads? Can we have a road thread? Pic related: it's the turbine interchange at I-295 and Butler Blvd in Jacksonville.

The Genesis range of bikes has been updated on their website www.genesisbikes.co.uk Some of the bikes in the Equilibrium disc and the Croix de Fer range is equipped with a carbon fork with what appears to be low rider mounts. Take a look at pic related, is that really a low rider mounts on a carbon fork? What do you think of this?

But going back to Occupy, it's a tactic. Tactics have a kind of a half-life. You can't keep doing them, and certainly you can't keep occupying public places for very long. And was very successful, but it was not in itself a movement. The question is: what happens to the people who were involved in it? Do they go on and develop, do they move into communities, pick up community issues? Do they organize? Take, say, this business of, say, worker-owned industry. Right here in Massachusetts, not far from here, there was something similar. One of the multinationals decided to close down a fairly profitable small plant, which was producing aerospace equipment. High-skilled workers and so on, but it wasn't profitable enough, so they were going to close it down. The union wanted to buy it. Company refused -- usual class reasons, I think. If the Occupy efforts had been available at the time, they could have provided the public support for it. This happened when Obama virtually nationalized the auto industry. There were choices. One choice was what he took, of course, was to rescue it, return it to essentially the same owners -- different faces, but the same class basis -- and send them back to doing what they had been doing in the past -- producing automobiles. There were other choices, and if something like the Occupy movement had been around and sufficient, it could have driven the government into other choices, like, for example, turning the auto plants over to the working class and have them produce what the country needs.

Fender, rack, pannier recommendations

About to be headed back to the states from Afghanistan. My truck is back home in RI and I'm not going to be taking post deployment leave until January. My bike (pic related, same model) is in my Sgt's garage. Since it is going to be my primary mode of trasportation I'm looking to make a tourer of sorts out of it. Looking for recommendations on fenders, a rear rack, and bags that aren't $$$.

alright /n/egroids, what are the most comfortable handlebars out there? My new bike has something akin to the soma major taylor, and I find it hard to get used to it. So what is it, moustache? butterfly? flat?

>This bike is equipped with the following... - LOOK Carbon Fiber front fork - Chris King bearings - Mavis Open Pro 32h 700c rims - Shimano Ultegra FlightDeck gearing - Cannondale saddle w/ Thompson seat mount - Cateye accessories (Computer, front light, rear LED flasher) - Two bottle holders - Two sets of peddles (regular, mounting cycling shoes) I have a bunch of accessories I am also willing to include... - Under-saddle bag - Emergency tire repair kit - JoeBlow Presta/Schroeder Valve hand pump - Abus heavy-duty chain bike lock I am asking $1200 obo for everything minus the Giro Saros G266 Livestrong helmet (large), which I'll include or sell separate for $60. The cost of the frame was $3200 new, and each rim cost $600 at the time, so no low-ballers! Is this a good deal, anon? It almost seems to be too good to be true if the frame costs that much new.

I'm 240 lbs, is there any point in me getting a road bike? Feel like I'm wasting my money on extra performance capability that I'll never be able to tap. I used to have a road bike back when i was 170 lbs, I got fat, sold it and now a year later I want to get back into road cycling but I'm wondering if I should lose the weight first. Currently I'm losing weight on some shit mountain bike that I picked up second hand.

What is the longest train ride you've taken /n/imrods? Taking pic related in the upcoming month on a supposed 29 hour ride, but I suspect it may go over a bit. What should I expect with that long a ride? Never taken one before, apart from the subway in my city. Anyhow tell me some experiences you guys have had, to help prepare.

Okay SpeedPlay vs SPD-SL style pedals I can't get a clear reason on why one is better than the other, the LBS says I'm getting better performance on my SL's but I like the aesthetics of the SpeedPlay a lot more; and seeing Grand Tour riders use them makes me think that there has to be some race quality ones out there.

Why have you never cycled in Minneapolis, /n/? Were you not aware that Minneapolis is the best city on Earth for urban cycling? Did you not realize what you have been missing out on your whole life?

Old thread reached bump limit, here is link to that thread: >>704198 Anyone know a solid jacket? I have a nice base layer and even a jersey, but temperatures drop low to around 0-5° F, or about -15°C and it will be windy.
