>be me >riding steel mtn bike with slicks en route to hardware store >wearing cutoff sweatpants and a grease stained t shirt wallet in pocket flopping around like ballsack >about to make a turn onto main route all cyclists in the area use to get to coast highway to start their little strava loops >catch glimpse of yellow jersey riding around bend 100 yards away >the thrill of the hunt >asume at first i wont catch him but quickly do and find myself at a pace that is prime for overtake >size him up: the kit, the calves, the tan. he looks legit but probably not elite >he looks back to check traffic as we approach left turn, sees goofus(me) casualy closing in on his wheel >two more freds round corner in opposite direction, give the pleasant wave that replaces the calous stare commonplace when im not in tandem with their kin >approach the medium grade half mile ascent that shortly follows the turn >usualy it is exciting enough just to match pace and acceleration behind road guys for a while knowing they know im chillin >i just want to go and see what happens >i go, and as I begin to pass yellow jersy killer instinct accelerates but then remembers cycling manners and lets me pass >as I go by he sees the full glory of flipflop clad platform pedaler on shitty mtn bike >the pace is faster than a sustainable pace but not too much so >I beckon him as overtly as I can that I want his pursuit >I push hard on the hill I know so well >I try not to look back >im pushing really hard seated preparing for the final 100 yards that steepen considerably >I look back and am delighted beyond comprehension to see that fucker chasing and close >out of saddle and rocking like a mother fucker >KOM >cont

Correct me if im wrong. Cranks are just like any other lever arm, the transmit energy easier as far as it pull from its center, so we could just make bikes significantly faster by putting longer crankarms, while needing minor modifications to the frame

They gave these away with a certain year VW Jetta a while ago. Im looking for a bike similar to this, and actually have a 2010 vw jetta, and would love to throw a bike rack on the trunk and have the bike cleaned up http://worcester.craigslist.org/bik/4478942003.html

Should I buy a new FeC (ferrous carbon) road bike or should I just stick to aluminum? Supposedly it is stronger and more comfortable and shock absorbing than my aluminum bike but I don't know it doesn't really seem any lighter.

Bonus points for something that everyone could do with spray paint and paper tape anon with zebra-setup road bike is welcome tl;dr: NICE PAINT THREAD

Should I join my university's cycling team? I actually am about to receive my very first road bike so that's why I'm hesitant. Fees are $100 a semester and include a jersey and lodging for any events we would go to. And it requires 3 meetings a semester
