Looking for some encouragement. Not a regular on this board, but I am an avid cyclist. I was t-boned about a month ago. Road rash everywhere, broken knee. Can't walk for another few weeks. GF left me 5 days after the accident. Plz share feels and encouragement. I want to ride again, but am currently feeling extremely apprehensive and depressed (some of it is understandable, I know). Tips for getting back on the saddle. Pic related

Correct me if im wrong. Cranks are just like any other lever arm, the transmit energy easier as far as it pull from its center, so we could just make bikes significantly faster by putting longer crankarms, while needing minor modifications to the frame

Unicycles

Is there an /n/ guide to buying unicycles, I'm thinking of getting a cheap second hand to learn on, and then later rewarding myself with a nice mUni once I do.

what do you think about the new 2014 rockriders? they all look ugly as fuck to me and are losing their price perfomance ratio. was thinking about buying an 8.1 next year, do they at least still make those?

First post. Please be gentle. I've never really been able to explore my city as a kid. Now that I have a car, I'm even more reluctant in doing so because of gas and maintenance costs. Owning a bicycle seems just as daunting, since my city isn't exactly bicycle friendly. I also only have two seasons here, with summer reaching the 100s, and winter reaching 30s. Anyway, I've a few questions to ask: What kind of bicycle should I be looking for if I plan on using it for cardio and leisure riding? Is it difficult maintaining a bicycle? How much do you usually spend on maintenance? How portable are folding bicycles? How much does the weather impact your riding? Is it ever a good idea to pick one up from a pawn shop? Also, how do you guys feel about inline skates? I haven't used a pair since I was 8 and always thought they were pretty cool, but don't see them around anymore.

Which of Amtrak's routes come the closest to breaking even? I'm guessing the NEC is probably the most successful.

Hey guys, I don't really post on /n/, but I was hoping I could get some advice. I picked up this Kona for 10 dollars, and I'm hoping to fix it up and give it to my Fiance as a gift. I'm not completely new to bikes, but there are some questions I had. -The paint is pretty good, but there are a couple of big scuff marks. I was thinking about trying to touch up the paint. What would be the best way to color match the paint? I'm thinking automotive paint is the way to go? -The bike needs a new rear tire. Is there an online shop you guys prefer for affordable bike parts(other than Amazon)? -The bike is pretty gunked up. Am I safe using simple green on the gears and sprockets? -One of the cables that goes to the gears is toast. You can see it hanging in the picture. I was going to take it to a shop to have it fixed, but is this something I might be able to do on my own? I have access to a pretty big bike tool box. Thanks in advance.

Some dipshit hit me with his truck and now my front wheel is fucked beyond all repair. It's gonna cost a decent chunk of change to get a replacement, so I'm looking to invest and just get a newer, nicer set. How do I know which rims will run on my bike? Is there a limit to how thin I can go width-wise? What's the optimum size rim in relation to the size of the frame?

They gave these away with a certain year VW Jetta a while ago. Im looking for a bike similar to this, and actually have a 2010 vw jetta, and would love to throw a bike rack on the trunk and have the bike cleaned up http://worcester.craigslist.org/bik/4478942003.html

>biking comes in at 70–130 MPG. i fucking knew it motorized bikes or scooters are really just about as efficient as pedalling when you factor in the energy used to grow food though obv oyu will use most of that energy anyway by eating and if youre a hippie (just kidding) or something you can get energy costs for food down

Should I buy a new FeC (ferrous carbon) road bike or should I just stick to aluminum? Supposedly it is stronger and more comfortable and shock absorbing than my aluminum bike but I don't know it doesn't really seem any lighter.

Hey Anon, why haven't you put reflective tape all over your bike? I say this because I care about you, Anon.
