Anyone here work on a ship?

Anyone here work on a ship? 0 posts and 0 image replies omitted. Click to view.
I don't know where else to put this so i'll give it a shot. I love traveling and i think this is a good route while making money. I currently live with my mother and i'm 21 years old with no working history. So i want to work on a cargo ship starting as a deckhand that goes internationally. Anyone with any advice at all i would be hugely grateful. I need to get my state ID and Passport, and get the TWIC which is no problem. Next is the z card and i can handle all of that as well, my question is how difficult is it getting a job as a deckhand without any experience? I understand I could take the STCW to get a better chance but is it worth it? Should i jump out there and start looking for work or immediately go for the STCW for a better possibility for getting a job. I currently have no experience and only have my high school diploma. Boats are transportation.

G'night, /n/omads. Do any of you use any kind of mask or filter to avoid breathing diesel particles and all that shit floating in the air while ride thorough heavy city traffic? Some chick is selling these nose filters for 15 USD where i live and claims that these last for over 12 weeks of commuting. Pic related. That's what a 2 week old filter and a new filter supposedly look like in comparison. I've read all those scientific papers that claim that you breath a lot more shit sitting in traffic, but I'm still uneasy about breathing all the exhaust fumes from the shitty buses in my city.

Longboard

Thinking of getting a longboard... Not a skaterfag, never ridden skateboard in my life (didn't see the appeal in flipping around on a piece of wood), but after seeing longboarding it actually looks like fun. There are alot of hills where i live, which would probably be good to longboard on. Anyways, i was wondering if there is anything to take into consideration before buying one. I barley know what trucks are, a little help? >inb4 wrongboarding

Can anyone tell me how much this bike is worth or if they are any good? A friend of a friend has had it dry-stored since the mid 90's and wants rid of it. He's offered it to me for £70.

So, what are the best, most hip, and cool water bottles? Also, general questions about water bottles, how to use them properly for example, with what and how you fill them etc.

Want to put a road bike together, buying parts seperately. The only problem is, I know fuck all about bikes? Anyone recommend any site/books to get me started? Thanks.

Does anyone have experience with Veloink? Have emailed them twice about getting a flag added so I can do a bunch of orders but they haven't responded. Worth even trying again or ordering from them?
