I don't understand car insurance. So you pay your €350 and you are covered by insurance. Makes sense so far. But then they want another €350 next year, even though you didn't have an accident? And another €350 the year after that! How is this right? Surely it would make more sense to give them a €350 deposit, and if you have an accident that pays for the damage. If you don't have an accident, the deposit stays where it is and you don't have to keep giving them more and more for no reason. I really don't get it. What are you paying for by giving them more and more money each year when you don't have any accidents? It seems like a complete money leeching scheme

Newfag here with a question: My 1996 GMC Sierra has died. Two piston heads are bad along with a multitude of other issues that cost roughly three times what the car is worth. What is the best option for dealing with a dead truck like this? I looked at Peddle.com and their services and they plan on offering me $280 since the car can't start. The car is probably $1,800 in working condition according to Blue Book pricing. The shops around town I've been able to contact aren't interested in it since it's so old. So, what should an auto noob like me do? Pic unrelated.

Problems after timing belt change

Problems after timing belt... 3 posts and 0 image replies omitted. Click to view.
Yesterday I installed my new timing belt and started the engine. It ran fine, no hesitation when I gave it gas. I decided to continue assembling the engine today. Now that I have it all assembled, it won't start. The engine cranks, but it doesn't even cough. What happened? It ran fine yesterday, so it can't be a timing problem (right?). I have a Mazda 323 1.5 -99
