Give me one good reason why these regs wouldn't be the perfect replacement for current NASCAR regulations: >Open only to front-engine, V8, naturally aspirated, rear wheel drive cars available for sale in the United States >Cars must use production unibody with NASCAR spec roll cage and all currently required safety equipment and features incorporated >Cars must use stock hood, roof, doors, and rear deck lid >Front and rear fenders may be replaced with "flared" fenders that do not increase width of each side by more than 1.5 inches over stock >Front bumper/fascia assembly may be replaced with aftermarket assembly incorporating a splitter of no more than 3 inches in length, but must otherwise retain stock dimensions >Suspension is free provided stock configuration and mounting points are retained (i.e., if a car has a double wishbone in stock configuration, any parts may be used but the double wishbone configuration must be maintained) >Choice of springs is unlimited >Brakes are unlimited provided they retain stock configuration >Cars must use stock engine blocks and displacement >All other parts are unlimited provided they retain stock configuration (i.e., if the stock cylinder head is overhead cam and 4 valves per cylinder, any cylinder head may be substituted provided it too is 4 valves per cylinder and overhead cam)

why is it that a rollcage made of some rods can make cars so much safer in roll-over scenarios and why are those rollcages not standard (nicely hidden of course) if they can't make the cabins stiff enough?

Hey guys, I'm back. And, unfortunately, with bad news. The rust is way worse than originally thought. It has ate completely through the steel side beams. So now, I have some decisions to make. I have a good but incomplete L28 and a good transmission but with no clutch. Do I part what I can out and buy a new project or save what I can and find a new body?

Best Mustang Color?

20 posts and 0 image replies omitted. Click to view.
I've pretty much decided to get a 12-13 Mustang GT as my next car. I'm going to wait until the 2015 arrives and hope prices go down a little. I'd like to get in for around $25k SyrupBucks. So the question is an/o/ns, what color should I get? Classic, timeless color? >Black >White >Grey >Red Or pull-me-over fun colors >Pic related Gotta Have It Green >Deep Impact Blue Also general five point bro thread. Post photos, recommend a tarbo'd BRZ instead, and so on.

PROJECT CAR PURCHASE ADVICE

Hey guys looking for some serious help. I am a young skilled automotive technician looking to purchase his first project/flip. Now comes the fun part I have my eyes set on a 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SEL with less than 70k miles! The catch? Its been sitting for 20 years supposedly in a garage. Now I'm just looking for any general advice on cars that have been sitting you may think is worth noting. Whether it be pre purchase or on getting the car up and running. Thanks in advance for any help. Pic semi related my current car

I wanna be an engineer working for a car company because I've loved cars ever since I was little and they're a big part of my life. I'm in the Northeast US and I'm in my senior year of HS (Early birthday) and need advice to which college to go to. I have like a 3.9 GPA in all IB classes and a 1930 SAT score. I want to go to a college that'll get me a good career and won't be expensive as fuck. Since my grades are pretty good the two options I'm looking at right now are WPI and RIT and need to choose between them. Pros and Cons of both: RIT: +Good Formula SAE team +Specific Automotive Engineering major +Co-op program -middle of nowhere -academics not as good as WPI -brochure seemed douchey WPI: +really high average starting salary +better location but not by a lot +closer to home +better academics -mediocre Formula SAE team -no specific Auto option, would have to do just general mechanical engineering -would probably be more expensive I know this seems like a blog post so I'll move it to an appropriate board if the mods ask, but I want to ask the people who know about cars if they have any experience with either of these colleges and can help.

Hey /o/, I'm completely new to BMW's and I have some stupid questions to ask. The picture I posted is an "e46" right? My uncle wants to sell me his "2004 330i" but is that also an "e46" like i posted? The headlights and bumper are different. Also just wondering, are the parts interchangeable? Thanks a lot.

Simulated Wankery

Are there any production cars with CVT's that DON'T have retarded simulated shift points? I'm ready to take on the future, I don't want new technology that pretends to be old technology to make me feel home-y.
