I'm interested in bushcraft and wanted a good all around blade to practice with. I was thinking about the mora survival knife. Fire steel and diamond sharpener in the sheath. Does /out/ have any experience with this blade? And other suggestions?

So like I've been camping some on my bike and have a fair bit of touring gear, and lately I've done a bit of day hiking with a small pack. But I would like to get into hiking to campsites and maybe bikepacking over regular touring. Thing is, I don't really want to cut back my luxury too much. I have a two-man tent which is reasonably light and very comfy. An exped SIM which is very comfy, but a little bulky even though much smaller than a foam pad. My stove is a Trangia 27. I guess I can lose some bulk because I don't need as much water, probably can lose the katadyn filter and get by on boiling/treatment. Got a light compact sleeping bag, can lose the pillow. Do you think it's realistic to solo hike with this kind of gear? What sort of pack size should I be looking at? Thanks for pls responding I will be forever grateful. ._.

Hey. So, my girlfriend just posted this photo of her on Facebook from her vacation, swimming in a bra/bikini. Do you think it's wrong?

>taking a long walk to wear in new boots >trying to start getting /out/ >walk down 4 miles of countryside paths >rustling of trees and blue skies >lay down on a bench and close eyes >WOOF WOOF WOOF >look around startled >two fucking dogs chasing a fox >dog mauls the fox by it's leg >fox is screaming loudly in pain >no owner in sight >other dog sprints past me faster than sahnik the hedgehog and joins in ripping apart this fox for fun >screaming everywhere >owner eventually fucking strolls out nonchalantly in the distance >fox screams audible a third of the way home Keep them on a leash, man. Fucking dog walkers. Leaving shit everywhere. Terrorizing wildlife. Ruining beaches and peaceful cycling routes with their 5am strolls with 20 fido's all off the leash, going nuts.

So the good people of /k/ have suggested that I use deer antler for my knife handle. Problem is... I can't find a good list of where there are deer in South Wales; there are some apparently in Abergavenny but I just want to see if there is anywhere closer to home (Caerphilly). Any Welshies on here who can point me in the right direction? Will Bucks be dropping their antlers this time of year, or recently (Meaning I might find antler lying around)? Lastly, would anybody be up for a potential day-hike some time soon in South Wales (Though this would be a very big maybe).

I need some help, /out/. I broke my skis today, and was wondering if there is anything to be done about fixing them. They are a pair of Volant TiVertex. The top ski is the one that got bent. I was planning to try and bend them back into shape. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

ITT: what do innawoods? You're going to be dropped slat-bang in the middle of an extensive forest for at least six months. How do you prepare for it, what gear do you take with you (incl. clothing), and how would spend your day to day life whilst stuck? >pic related That's all I need.

Can anyone identify what plant this is? I found it growing alone in Joshua Tree National Park which is in the high desert of Southern California.

Urban Exploration Thread

I've been meaning to invite seven people over for my birthday to explore a creepy abandoned building. I want to explore a bit and then bring a projector and watch a horror movie or something. I originally wanted to explore an asylum for the fear factor, but I would totally do a hospital since a lot of the asylums have been demolished. I would go to the Downey one (CA), but I heard police heavily patrol it. I would totally do a hospital though. Or maybe a really big mansion. The only problem is finding where to go. The uer.ca website is useless since their database is automatically set to list the demolished ones and you can't change it unless you're an advanced member or something. I've also found the urban exploration community to be very elitist and secretive. They often intentionally hide locations. Anyone got something good in California? I just want to explore anything with maze-like intricate hallways and dark spooky rooms. I wanna feel like I'm reading House Of Leaves. Can anyone help out? Anyone been anywhere good in California?
