hey /out/ I want to get into back country/remote/buttfuck no where camping here in Colorado but i don't know how to go about doing that. I have the supplies, and i'm very comfortable with the outdoors here in Colorado. I've gone camping and hiking all over the state my whole life but usually just in populated area's. I want to start camping out where there is no one around for miles (probably asking to much here but you get the point) Anyone know where i can do this? What do i need to do this?

Hey sc/out/s! I live in the north Georgia mountains (US) and I'm getting excited about starting to plant for my container garden. Last year we successfully grew 6 varieties of tomatoes, okra, herbs, strawberries, lettuce, green beans, and squash. I want to double the output so we have more fresh veggies and fruits all summer/fall. What are y'all getting ready to grow? Any preferences, tips, infographs, or ideas about what to plant when? Also, general home gardening thread.

Truly owning land... 20 posts and 2 image replies omitted. Click to view.
Not sure where to ask this so you're it, /out/. Is it still possible to still have absolute, private, sovereign ownership of a piece of land on this planet? Where? Or what is the next best thing? What I mean is, owning a place almost unconditionally, with little or no property taxation authority held over you, no external limitations on what you may do with the land, no rights claimable by anyone else, etc. Once it is yours, it's YOURS. Any place like that or am I just dreaming?

The Art of Flight is visually one of the best /out/ looking films I've ever seen. They seriously fucking nailed this movie. Some of the best landscapes.

So I'm thinking of buying a small inflatable boat and saw this one on a local retailer for half the price. I want to use it with my gf to wander around when we go to a river o lagoon, just for fun, no fishing. What do you think? I know the boat is crappy, but my budget is low, is that one or nothing. It's made of pvc, so I think it would be very easy to repair by myself in case of a leak.

Hi there /out/, first time poster from /k/ here, so my apologies if my questions seem daft. Anyway I'm currently working on a BOB/general week long outdoor pack. But it's been almost two years since I've gone "real" camping, and almost four since I've gone back packing. All of my experience is in the summer as well. So here're my questions. Are there any fellow coastal North Westerners on tonight, and how do you pack for a week in the winter rain/fog of our glorious bio region?

I'm interested in bushcraft and wanted a good all around blade to practice with. I was thinking about the mora survival knife. Fire steel and diamond sharpener in the sheath. Does /out/ have any experience with this blade? And other suggestions?

Sup guys, don't really know where to ask this question, so I figured here would be cool This time next year a friend and I want to do a road trip across the West Coast of North America. We are both Australian citizens. We plan on either buying a used RV or renting one Do any of you have any experience with road tripping overseas? Or travelling up the West Coast?

>taking a long walk to wear in new boots >trying to start getting /out/ >walk down 4 miles of countryside paths >rustling of trees and blue skies >lay down on a bench and close eyes >WOOF WOOF WOOF >look around startled >two fucking dogs chasing a fox >dog mauls the fox by it's leg >fox is screaming loudly in pain >no owner in sight >other dog sprints past me faster than sahnik the hedgehog and joins in ripping apart this fox for fun >screaming everywhere >owner eventually fucking strolls out nonchalantly in the distance >fox screams audible a third of the way home Keep them on a leash, man. Fucking dog walkers. Leaving shit everywhere. Terrorizing wildlife. Ruining beaches and peaceful cycling routes with their 5am strolls with 20 fido's all off the leash, going nuts.

Two questions /out/ 1) Best survival guide/general outdoor guide 2) Craziest animal you've seen in the wild 1, I don't know, that's why I am asking. 2, a lynx, I was out hiking and we made eye contact and we watched each other until I passed out of sight.

Looking to do some urban exploring as soon as we don't have 2 feet of snow on the ground anymore and I was wondering if any of you guys carry with you while you explore? I have my CHL and would prefer to take it in case of unexpected or violent homless/junkie/both/etc.. Though, I am a bit concerned about the legalities of carrying when tresspassing as I'm sure going through abandoned buildings isn't entirely legal. It'll be mostly around Cleveland/Akron/NE Ohio.
