Hey /out/doorsmen. Starting to get into camping and hiking and all that fun stuff and I plan on starting off with a couple of day hikes with a mate. Trying to find a cheap 50-80L bag and I have found this so far (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/50L-Tactical-Outdoor-Military-Rucksacks-Backpack-Camping-Hiking-Hunting-Green-/261399434304?pt=AU_Backpacks_Hydration&hash=item3cdc9ed440). No reviews or anything, most likely going to fall apart pretty quick or it could be a gem or some shit. Anyway, any recommendations that wont fall apart?

Not sure if this is the best board for this, but I'm going to Europe this summer (Belgium and Germany specifically) and I'll be walking a lot. I'd like to get some shoes that'll be comfortable walking long distances and also waterproof. Bonus points if they look good enough to be worn casually. Any recommendations?

Hi everybody. I don't know what to do next. >be 22 year old American hippie >hungry to travel across the world >likes nature/the outdoors/environment >currently a junior undergraduate in biology >3.4 GPA >20k in student debt >2k in unpaid medical bills >work as taxi driver >live frugally because always broke (and skinny) >2-bedroom apt with one roommate (50/50 rent and utilities) I need a way to make decent money, but I also want to travel and work to help/protect the environment. I'm considering joining the Coast Guard's CSPI program to pay for school and student loan debts (and obtain capital for investing), but that requires an 8-year commitment to stay in the States (4-year active duty as an O-1, 4 year reserves). How do I make decent money, travel, and protect the environment all at the same time? (it would be cool to retire in Ecuador by the time I'm 30 and just captain a small fishing vessel) As of now I'm making around $1000/USD per month working 24 hr/week and studying 13 credit hours this semester. If possible I would like to avoid the military all together, but I don't see a way of making a reasonable amount of money otherwise. And I'm terrified of graduating with a B.S. Biology and not having anywhere to work. I don't want to be like the occupiers.

Hey /out/, can you give me some advice on walking boots? I wasn't really looking for boots but came upon these in the pic http://www.sportsdirect.com/karrimor-ksb-munro-mens-walking-boots-182421?colcode=18242105 and they look really nice and are on sale. I don't have much experience with buying walking boots as I've had my walking boots for about 5 years now and they are great but have gotten all worn out. Can you give me a review on those and give me some general tips on what to look for. I generally hike all seasons, mostly in mountainous terrain. Would these be appropriate for summer? Thanks.

hey /out/, I need some help! I want to take my gf for a vacation in Slovakia this summer, but I don't really know anything about riding long distances on bike or camping - at all! please post any tips or the like you have about camping and cycling in Slovakia, but most of all just the above, but in general! also, I'm thinking that it's going to be a 5-6 days long trip, and the plan is to take the train to Wien (from Denmark), ride to Bratislava, spend an entire day, or the like, in Bratislava, go for Poprad/Spis, where the Tatra mountains and Spis castle are, then go home from there > what kind of bike should I/we have? what could do, what's a no-go? > camping equipment? > camping / cycling in Slovakia? > packing, what should I (we) bring? > what's the best/cheapest possibilites for going with public transportation from Denmark to Slovakia and vice versa > etc. thanks! Hey /out/, A few (3 or 4) buddies of mine and I are going to be hiking in Bear Mt. state park for 5 days and four nights. last time we did this we only went for 2 days and we honestly got fucked with wet conditions, and being completely unprepared. We stayed in a tent but by the next day all of our clothes were filthy and we had no food. Any tips for things to eat on a camp-out and ideas to survive this 5 day trip?

Outdoor cringe thread anyone? check this gem out: http://vimeo.com/55420992 I actually had to pause the video after they brought out the torch to light their fire inside a manufactured chimney, and then lit a gas burner stove to grill artichokes and bread. "Roughing it" my ass!

My friends and I live in southern Ontario, Windsor to be exact. We are planning on taking a 3-7 day camping trip this summer (hopefully repeat every year getting more towards true innawoods each time) and aside from car camping none of us have done anything like this before. Can anyone give any suggestions as to where we should go (preferably under 9 hour drive still in Canada) and what we need to bring?

OKAY TEAM GEMINI! I have a question for all of the hunters out there (coyote more specifically). Allow me to preface by saying, I have occipital neuralgia, the nerves in my neck make me have a headache every day. Sometimes the headaches are worse than other days and etc etc. MY QUESTION IS: Has anyone gone hunting after smoking cannabis? does it affect frequency of game spotting? more specifically-do coyote run from the smell (i would smoke before I put my mossy oak on & use scent blocker)? No worry I live in Washington state >Pic related, is my coyote gun, although mine has no scope.

Surviving in the middle of the ocean is not as easy as Pi makes it look. For 38 days a family survived by undergoing makeshift enemas and eating turtles. Man vs Wild - Bear's Enema https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtIG4TuVnvg This never gets old.
