What are you usually doing when you fish? Reading a book? This will be the first year where I can finally buy a car and go whenever I feel like. Hyped as fuck.

Ask a guy who's been living outside in a tent during the wettest winter Ireland's had on record anything. Pic related, it is the type of tent I am using. Been out since Dec. 28th. 5 miles from city, walk there and back 6 days a week. >inb4 pics or gtfo Can't provide right now, only access is horribly out of date computer at work.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a tent that could house me and my partner for under $100 with backpacks inside the tent as well. I am assuming a 3 person tent would do the trick for this. We would not be camping in snow. Temos may tend to hit 30*F Suggestions???? Someone recommended Ozark from Wal-Mart as the most ideal and best for this?

apparently keeping sleeping bags stuffed tightly in long-term storage hurts the down. but where do you find the bigger storage bags? i bought the white mesh bag in pic related, but it's barely bigger than the original stuff sack. what should i be looking for? i'm tempted to just make my own and be done with it. also, general gear maintenance & storage questions/tips thread.

So /out/, as someone new to camping and /out/doors in general, what are your (or campers collectively I guess) opinions on non-regulated camping, though it's probably not called that. I mean no campsites, no registration, you just find a safe and hidden place to park your car and fucking off innawoods for a few days, anywhere from a small forest by your town to a national park. Anybody ever been shot/caught/distraught because of it? It just seems way better than camping at a campsite.

Yo /out/. Just got this mess kit from my friend who trades military surplus. He gave me this for free because im soon going on a trip into the mountains, so he figured it might be of some use for me. It is aluminium however, so can you please tell me why aluminium is bad for a mess kit? It seems to be a piece of Swedish army equipment from the 70's and with some work i might clean it up and use it, design seems okay. What do you think out?

Hey /out/ How would I go about attaching my sleeping bag to the bottom of my backpack? No straps on the bottom, I guess I didn't think it through when I bought the pack.

Hello people, I am pretty new to the whole /out/-stuff. While I can build shelters, fires and keep care of myself pretty good already (practiced in the near forest), it was never more than a night I spent there and I didn't go shit. Now, the core mechanics are clear, squat down and shit in the pit or lean against tree or whatever. But then what? Should I bring TP? Won't that take up lots of space during a longer trip? Should I use leaves? But what in autumn/winter? Should I use a rag which I clean afterwards? But what about now water? I am a bit confused.

Not sure if this is the best board for this, but I'm going to Europe this summer (Belgium and Germany specifically) and I'll be walking a lot. I'd like to get some shoes that'll be comfortable walking long distances and also waterproof. Bonus points if they look good enough to be worn casually. Any recommendations?
