I don't know if this thread belongs here or /k/ or /soc/, but I live in SoCal and have gone through the requirements of getting my hunting license. I originally planned on going with my friends who I became licensed with, but they keep making excuses not to go and Im tired of it because I've invested a lot of energy into a hobby I'd like to pursue. Is there anyone in the area who will take me hunting? Like I said I'm inexperienced but looking to learn. Thinking about maybe some dove/quail hunting or just some cottontails. If not, could someone at least direct me to some hunting zones or links to maps? Thanks in advance /out/doorsman

Hey /out/ I went to /trv/ about this first and they said maybe I should ask you guys. I've been (very) slowly starting to plan a trip to Alaska next summer, but I'm kind of stuck about what I can and can't do. I'm a huge fan of camping and survival, and realy excited about trekking, backpacking and exploring the wilderness. Plus I've got this (childish) dream of exploring the Yukon and following in the first gold prospector's footsteps. I got the idea from hearing about the Seavey and the Iditarod, specificaly Dallas Seavey. My issue is, I've seen Into the Wild and a few survival shows about Alaska, and it looks tough. I don't want to underestimate mother nature in her rawest form, so I was wondering if it would actualy be possible to go trekking in Alaska without getting mauled or freezing to death. By the way, I consider Into the Wild a good example what not to do when preparing a trip in the wilderness... I'm from Switzerland, I've been on many hikes and a few camping trips, but I don't have huge amounts of experience when it comes to full on wilderness. Plus even though I've read up on them alot, we don't have bears here. I do know my basics though, like starting fires, setting up a camp, getting off the ground, planning for flash floods, hiding food etc. So my questions are the following: - Would it be possible to plan a trekking trip through Alaska's wilderness, or am I being dreamy? - If it is possible, which area should I be trekking in? I'd love to see the real wilderness if possible

>tfw I have I sit week after week alone during the weekends, day dreaming that I have friends to go /out/ with. I go /out/ alone sometimes but it would be much better with friends who are interested in the outdoors instead of partying and getting drunk all weekend

I have a zippo, and its awesome, but i need another one. I want one with butane, one that has the strong blue flame. Im not sure which brand to get. Which brand is best? im not looking for something too expensive, i dont really have alot of money at this current time. Also something thats not too big, something that would be good for a EDC in a pocket with some other things. Which brand/ specific lighter is best?

International Shipping

I saved some money and wanted to buy this bagpack. 80$ seemed fine for me so I added it to the chart and clicked on "calculate shipping". Since I live in germany I would pay 140$ just for shipping. 220$ in total, for a simple bagpack. Are there any Euro-Folks out there, knowing where I can get "The Rucksack" in Europe or even in Germany? Thanks a lot, /out/

hey /out/, what would you do if you went on a camping trip and woke up with a used condom in your ass and a man laying next to you smiling?

First time going /out/ and I am completely befuddled as to what kind of food to bring with me. I was thinking MREs but they had for 15$ a pop at my local army surplus store which is way too expensive for me. I'm not planning to bring a stove with me. Thinking about spending two nights(one if I manage to somehow fuck myself with my lack of experience )hiking/camping through a local state park in PA. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We own some land up on Madeline Island. Have any of you ever been there? It's a beautiful place. For those who don't know, it's an island 2 miles off the shore of Wisconsin.

Hey /out/ I'm looking at an MSR Hubba Hubba NX (http://www.mec.ca/product/5035-570/msr-hubba-hubba-nx-tent/) and I need your advice. It's only going to be the wife and I, and not doing anything too crazy. Our plan is to be able to hike for 3-5 hours and setup camp on a whim. Looking for something to run from mid spring to late fall. Basically when there's no snow here in Canada. So a low temp of 5C would be the lowest. If we spend $350 on this tent, are we getting overkill? Is this the kind of tent you go if you're gone for a month instead of just every other weekend? Is this a good buy?

Hey /out/, ohiofag here and im going to cedar point with a group of friends next week. We want to go beach camping somewhere on lake erie afterwords, and ive been tasked with finding a place to do this. Unfortunately im not very familiar with the sandusky area so im hoping you guys could help me out. Does anyone know a good spot on the beach where we could set up a tent and have a fire within like a 30 minute drive of sandusky? Perferablly legally, but we're not totally opposed to tresspassing as long as its very unlikely we'll get caught. Also general beach camping advice.
