I'm just thinking about muh food an sheeit. I have a big bag of Quaker Old Fashioned oatmeal just sitting around. I think that it would be a good food to take with me on a hike. But I was wondering, what if I blend it up a bit in the blender, into some sort of powder? You know, to increase the surface area of the oats and reduce the cooking time (and fuel usage). I think I can deal with the resultant gruel-like texture. Is my logic sound? Does it in any way, shape or form affect the nutritive value of the food?

I'm tired of living in society. I'm tired of the swarms of information, disinformation, all the ideologies, all the bickering, all the pettiness. I want to move far away from all that. Does /out/ know how one could go about purchasing a small compound in the Canadian wilderness? Preferably with electricity.

International Shipping

I saved some money and wanted to buy this bagpack. 80$ seemed fine for me so I added it to the chart and clicked on "calculate shipping". Since I live in germany I would pay 140$ just for shipping. 220$ in total, for a simple bagpack. Are there any Euro-Folks out there, knowing where I can get "The Rucksack" in Europe or even in Germany? Thanks a lot, /out/

Total noob question, but why the hell don't military sleeping bags roll down/ compress into anything remotely compact?? You'd think they were designed to be carried, but mine is the size of a 5gal. bucket at best and weighs quite a bit. Come on, real sleeping bags are expensive! TL;DR I'm cheap and picky Pic kinda related.

Weird stuff

Weirdest/creepiest things you've found while camping/hiking Once I found 2 very well built huts in the middle of no where in the woods. They were made out of GIANT boulders and huge logs that weighed more than anyone could ever carry. No one was inside and I really wish I had brought a camera.

Any Kayakers in here? I live... 4 posts and 2 image replies omitted. Click to view.
Any Kayakers in here? I live in Canada (right across from Detriot) and want to purchase two kayaks for going along Detroit river. Kayaks here are really expensive, it would be worth the trip to purchase some on the states. Any suggestions on stores or department stores in the states I can go to? Im looking for a decent quality one, not the small kiddy ones. Found this one so far that caught my eye: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sun-Dolphin-Aruba-Sit-In-12-Kayak-with-Bonus-Paddle/21015228?action=product_interest&action_type=title&placement_id=irs_middle&strategy=PWVAV&visitor_id=82632194421&category=0%3A4125%3A546956%3A111667%3A49940&client_guid=2ff2bd7d-7628-413e-ad04-5bffe84395ac&config_id=2&parent_item_id=25845710&guid=8bf0b2f8-eeb5-452e-86a8-efedaf3176c3&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&findingMethod=p13n Helps me a lot since I dont pay 15% tax on it. Hehe.
