Anyone have any tips on getting a job in photography? I was thinking of applying at a Motophoto,( it's a chain), but I'm not sure what they might need from me. Should I try to setup a portfolio and is there anything else you think they might need?Do I need a degree for something like that?

I had approximately 2 hours to take some snaps round this building whilst it was still halfway through being furnished. It's for my old man so just a practice session, he's trying to push me more toward the "arty" shots of weird angles and shit. Where have I gone wrong /p [EXIF data available. Friends I got work for two days next week assisting in filming a small advert. I've done event photography and done some video work for musicians but nothing really professional grade. As an assistant what should I be prepared for? I'll obviously be early and bring some bits with me (tools, back up camera body, microphones & memory cards) and just work my ass off making sure the crew have everything they need. Is there anything else I need to know? I'm nervous but also excited to make the best impression possible

So I am planning on getting my first camera and my first preference is Rx100 mk 1 which I am getting for around 400$. If you have used one, can you tell what the experience is like and also are there better options available for 400$ or less?

So I'm doing a research essay on street photography and Im having a hard time figuring out the thesis, a thesis that can be arguable and also last long enough to have 2100 words...the professor suggested to talk about privacy which I found myself could not write enough main points about it. Any suggestions?

Hello /p/, I'm wondering if we can have a thread about experiences with stock photography. Today I was contacted by Getty Images via email. Not the stupid Getty Images Flickr thing, but directly from Getty and to my business email that would only be found on my website. They pasted several of my images in the email to show what they were interested in and said they would like me to be a part of their "moment" collection, which was in quotes like that. Anyway, I've always strayed away from these opportunities because they seem to be tied in with Flickr, 500px or be part of a company I've never heard of. The main thing is that I shoot (locally successful) fine art landscape photographs and sell prints of high quality that aren't mass produced. I don't want this to damage my main desires with my business, but at the same point I'm reaching a point where I have a strong need for new sources of income to stay afloat and keep doing what I love. Has anyone had any experience with working directly with Getty? Can it be a profitable and reasonable venture or is Getty mostly interested in fucking people? Is it worth submitting similar photos to the ones I make prints of that aren't the same, to keep from reducing perceived value of my prints? Do people even actually license landscape photos? What say you, /p/? Of course I've been using Google, without many clear answers, so I want to ask my favorite photo community in the world.
