Thinking about picking up one of these for $45. Good idea? minimal controls, 35mm, completely mechanical, it has a battery operated light meter though. Right now I only have an iphone 5s. So I will probably do double takes with the two for a while, stockpile a bunch of film shots, and develop them eventually.

Upon reading this book I come across this quote. "Only now and then does someone rummaging among heirlooms notice that amateurs seem to have made much better photographers a century ago, that the faded images show an eerie attention to composition and chiaroscuro, certainly an attention lacking in most contemporary snapshots and homemade videos." How does that make you feel /p/? [EXIF data available. So this is my portfolio. I am an amateur photographer, untrained but still very inspired. I feel like I am turning a corner, but just curious how some of my photos land with some of you. Ill post a little of my work, plus a link. Thanks for not crucifying me in advance, but constructive criticism is welcome. Thanks! http://alanwhoisawesome.carbonmade.com/

Walked around a bit yesterday and the day before. Shot a roll of Fujicolor 200. I know most of these are probably pretty boring (there's nothing particularly interesting around here this time of year.) but C&C would be appreciated.

so I got this badboy for around 60 eurobucks off ebay. Can anyone explain to me the basics of analogue photography? My main question after reading the manual is : do you have to put in the film in complete darkness/ red light room or doesn't it matter? I'm a complete analogue noob so pls respond Any other tips for a beginner?

Looking to get a good video-capable DSLR primarily for films, but I'd like to get experience with stills too. somewhere around $300 is what I was hoping for. I was considering a Panasonic GH1, as they can be had with kit lens for ~$250 on eBay. are these still pretty usable? I know DSLR video is changing fast. I was also considering the EOS M, but not sure about the touchscreen controls and lack of viewfinder... would buying a detachable loupe be overkill for a 'compact' system? otherwise there is always t2i/t3i etc... what do you think, /p/? gh1 ?
