This roll of film was probably exposed in the mid 90s. I wanna develop it just to see what the results are. Should I get it developed at 200 to account for speed loss over the years? I wrote a webapp awhile ago that would convert raw photos on dropbox to jpg and have them accessible on the web. I stopped working on it though, because just shooting with raw+jpg is a bit more convenient. I was wondering if this idea was interesting to anyone though.

Optimally the best time to shoot video/pictures is in the morning or at sunset as the sun degrades the quality of images. Would a UV filter and a lens hood enough to offset sub optimal shooting conditions with too much sun? Is there anything in addition to this that can help mitigate it?

Saw this on Bing today. I remember some German /p/haggots on a photo date took some pictures of the same library. Does the picture belong to any of you? The ones I remember posted here were better, actually.

Don't group yourself into a category so soon. Don't be a "street photographer." Don't be a "landscape photographer." Thinking of yourself in that way will limit you. Your camera is not the problem. So buck up, take it out of the closet and take some pictures. Know when a picture would benefit from thoughtful post-processing and know when a picture is just a throwaway. Learn how to compose, expose, and process a photo in a technically perfect way. Every artist that pushed boundaries did so because they were already well acquainted with what was within those boundaries. Look at renowned photographers constantly. Go on Magnum's website and look through their archive. You'll get a feel for what makes a good photo.

Looking to get into medium format film photography and it seems the cheapest way to go would be with a Twin-Lens Reflex camera. Any TLR cameras you would recommend for a "reasonable" price?

Proper Exposure

Proper Exposure 12 posts and 0 image replies omitted. Click to view.
New to photography here. When it comes to getting a proper exposure, can you rely on the exposure meter often found in the manual settings mode of a camera? For instance in the picture attached 0 is what the camera perceives to be properly exposed. In this case its on a 2, or 2 stops over exposed. Is the exposure meter built in the camera something you can trust when first starting out and learning to properly expose images? Thanks guys

I've decided to finally get serious about my photography after playing with it casually for years. My first order of business will be to learn manual exposure controls reflexively. I can already shoot in manual and get good pictures, but I have to really think about what I'm doing when I'm changing settings, so I'm pretty much limited to static subjects as it takes some time for me to get everything right. Once I feel like I can handle these settings as second nature (along with manual focus, as that takes some time for me as well), I think I'll shift my focus to improving my composition. Or lighting. I'm not sure yet. Anyway, what do you guys think? Any tips for the road ahead? [EXIF data available.
