If I see banding (of the grey sky) on my screen will it show in print? JPG to print is okay in case resolution is not a problem, yes or no? I mean in sizes around 10x15cm, sometimes slightly bigger, sometimes smaller. It's a high-quality pamphlet. I'm a bit confus about the relation between what I see on my screen and what will come out as a print. Adams' "Print" isn't helping too much as the problem is mainly digital I believe. Any reads of the basics, people? Image included for provocative reasons.

Is there a consensus on the best way of digitizing film nowadays? I recently learned about the "DSLR scanning" method and from my naive tech-based background it sounds like this scheme should be capable of arbitrarily high resolutions, limited only by the magnification of your lens. Take a large quantity of shots at extreme magnification, stitch them with PTGui or something, get gigantic image. Drum scanners shouldn't have much reason to exist anymore (theoretically). If you've tried this along with traditional scanning methods, can you comment on the relative quality? [EXIF data available. Someone here posted a link to some photographer who shot a bunch of black and white photos of his children and a few of his wife. They were really well done, and I think the children were nude in a few. Does anyone know who I'm talking about or what that link was? [EXIF data available. Portfolio hosting sites

What sites does /p/ use to host their portfolio's? Photoshelter, Orosso, FolioHD etc. I'm getting to the stage where I'm prepared to start paying (under say $80/year) for a well sorted site with the capability to sell prints from. Anybody have any suggestions? [EXIF data available. Click here to show/hide.] Camera-Specific Properties:Image-Specific Properties:Horizontal Resolution72 dpiVertical Resolution72 dpi

Hey/p/ I'm looking to get a high speed, digital slow motion video camera. My budget is around $1000 and I'd like to have something that can do close to 1000 frames above 900p. What are some options I can look in to? I know /p/ is mainly dedicated to still photographs but theres got to be some other lovers of slow motion videos out there!

How do I street

Hey /p/, currently my main genre is architecture and urban landscape, though I'd like to make some street shots. Though I'm really kinda shy, so I feel uncomfortable in getting close to subjects, because I'm not sure how to behave or what to say if even. How do you work your shit when shooting street? Do you just come close, take the camera to your face and shoot, do you make make a nod to the subject to ask for permission, do you speak with them, before or after the shot?
