Could someone direct me to a tl;dr of amateur non-digital photography? I want to take "physical" photos by exposing light to a chemical film, then develop them myself in a small darkroom. Nothing fancy. Important points: I am not female, I do not have a tumblr, and do not consider a black and white photo to be automatically arty.

Hi /p/. This is my first time on this board so please excuse any embarrassing rookie errors I might make. I'm very new to photography; I've only been shooting with a dlsr since the beginning of May. I'm a university student and recently went on a study abroad program. One of my professors loaned me a camera (Canon EOS 30D) for the trip, but didn't really give me any advice on how to use it. After watching/reading many tutorials and practicing around home, I started feeling pretty comfortable shooting in manual, taking some risks, etc. The only problem is that with a very limited photography background, I really don't know if my shots are any good. With that being said, I would really love critique and advice of any sort (shooting in manual, editing, composition). Thanks! [EXIF data available. I wanted to get a general opinion from everyone. I was thinking about opening up my darkroom to people on /p. My idea is to open a po box so people can send in their negatives and I would print them and then send the print and neg back. I think this could be a great thing. The only issue I foresee is financing the printing. To help out, I would only ask for small donations that would be sizable to your request only to be reinvested in papers, chemistry and perhaps a beer to go along while I print. I'm capable of printing 35mm, 645, and 4x5 contact, 5x7 contact, and 8x10 contact prints. I can do 6x6 or 6x7 but they would be cropped to 645. RC paper unless the demand and financing allows for FB paper. What does everyone think? [EXIF data available. Photo Zines

I started a thread about photo zines a few weeks ago and since then I went and made two issues of a photozine for a local zine fair over the weekend. I was only going to do one but found I had enough material to make two. Sold 36 copies in all which more than covered the costs of the printing and paid for a bunch of zines I bought over the weekend. I'll post a few pictures of them. [EXIF data available. Shadow

Hey guys, I have a question! How do I get rid of the annoying shadow near my face in Photoshop/Lightroom? I'm no good at drawing, so I don't have good control over the dodge/burn tools. I've even tried changing exposure in that particular spot in Lightroom, but the color/shadows always seem off. What do you recommend? Thanks in advance. [EXIF data available. And took some photos, yes I'm aware zoo photos are fully pleb tier. Pentax K5 and Vivitar Series 1 70-210 (OM fit originally, unscrewed OM mount, epoxy glued on pentax mount, works much much better than I expected a 40 year old bodged, third party, zoom lens to ever do) [EXIF data available. What does /p/ think about this camera? I'm currently using an Olympus E-PL1. I was wondering how much of an upgrade would it be if I get an RX100 III. I rather like the idea of carrying around a powerful compact camera in my pocket everywhere I go.
