Help. I'm going to buy a new camera for my dad. He's not any photographer though, but he wants to start to take some nice and good quality pics from home and from holidays. The current camera he uses is some old cheap supermarket one. I have no idea what kind of camera I should get. Just some new, easy-to-use camera for amateurs, removable or non-removable lens, some micro pocket-sized camera or big and bulky one? Any help or recommendations for daddys first camera?

Ok /p/ this is my first time posting in this board. I'm looking to take up photography as a hobby. I was considering lurking here for a while but realized I wouldn't understand the lingo. Two things, what entry level slr would you guys recommend in terms of quality and price as well as any books or manuals that can help me learn the nuances of photography. Thanks in advance.

I am asking of someone, a favor. in order to serve my warranty for my backpack i need to cut a hole in the body and cut of the straps to render it useless to have them send me another. since i can make this pack work by rigging it, id like to keep it around. Tldr; need a photoshopped backpack with hole in middle and straps cut off. because i suck at photoshop. [EXIF data available. Anyone used the old 4/3 system? Also known as "I weight pretty much the same as canikon but with smaller sensor" Yeah that one. How was it like? From a personal/marketing perspective, why would anyone buy it over canikon?

Ok guys, I'm just curious your opinions on this image, sorry for it being graphic. I would just like to ask about the 2 shadows that I have circled, are they going in 2 different directions. Notable too is that fact that there is shadow on right hand side of head and not on right hand side of the hand. How is it that his soles and the right hand surface area around rocks are illuminated and right hand side of head is shadow'd. Diagrams of direction of light and general discussion.

Hey guys! I'm Studying Digital Media at uni and I'm looking to buy a camera. I've done as much research as I can but I've not got anyone with suitable knowledge accessible to ask of their opinion. I'm looking for the best Entry Level camera. My course will involve photography and video. I'd like to stay in the £400-£550 ($650-$900) price range if possible, unless I can be convinced otherwise of course. I have personally came to a personal settlement on the Nikon D3300. I just seems like a good all round camera unless there are points I should know about? The D5300 is tempting with the flip screen but I don't know if it's more of a gimmick and not worth the money. Thanks!
