I've posted this triptych here before. If you like it, you should know that I'm giving one 13"x19" print of it away for free. I'm currently trying to sell a limited run of ten signed, numbered prints on Saatchi Art: http://www.saatchiart.com/art/Photography-Triptych-No-1/717808/2079196/view For promotional purposes, I'm giving away one of the ten for free. All you need to do is retweet this to enter: https://twitter.com/Manifestists/status/489537991145046016 In two weeks, I'm going to pick a random person who retweeted that status and mail the print to them at no cost. GoPro photography thread? I've recently acquired a GoPro Hero (Black edition) but I'm struggling to get good photos from it. They always seem blurred or really unsharp. Are there any specific settings I should be using dependent on lighting (i.e. use X for action shots in the day and Y for shots at night)?

/p/ just a quick stupid question Why are DSLR lenses so bad at zooming? Even the shittiest point-and-shoot these days have 10-20× zoom in a compact sub-inch length lens. Some of the best 3-figure DSLR lenses get maybe 5 times zoom. Why is this?

Guise I've just bought a Canon Eos 60D to get started in photography. Question: Where does the lens cap go when taking photos? The manual says it's a piece in the strap that holds it but how? >Pic related: said piece [EXIF data available. Do any of you guys remember the brand of some Korean LED displays that were IPS and awesome and pretty cheap as well. Also, general display thread.

So, the Nikon Df... what does /p/ think about it? Is it just an overpriced hipster camera or might it actually be fun and take great pictures?

How do you shoot /p/? Do you shoot JPEG+RAW or JPEG? I know that RAW are extremely useful in terms of post processing, but for a starter in the world of photography, what do you recommend? Currently just using JPEG, highest res (4272x2848)

My D5100 is going crazy, the camera is something like three years old. It started giving me this "Error press shutter release button again" I thought it was the lens (35mm 1.8G) and changed it but it still didn't work. I removed the lens to see if there was something visibly wrong, like a bad placed mirror, or a damaged shutter. But everything seems fine, I used the cleaning the sensor mode and bulb mode and everything seemed in place at first sight. Then suddenly it started to work without lenses. When I removed the lens and took a picture the error didn't appear and I could see an image in the display. I started to try with the other lenses and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. I thought it could be related to focal distance because only with the longest focal distance of the zoom lenses the camera worked. It didn't seem to work with the primes. But playing around with the settings it worked with the primes, but only at maximum aperture. The same applied for the zooms, at different focal distances I only had to choose the maximum aperture for the camera to work. Have any of you had the same or a similar problem? Could it be a software issue or a more serious mechanical one?
