Searched the catalog to no avail. Point me in the right direction if I missed a thread. Someone mentioned lacquer for paper mâché in the daft punk helmet thread. Can someone recommend a brush-on lacquer that'd be good as such? I'm also wondering if anyone's been able to airbrush lacquer onto their paper models. I've got an Iwata HP-C Plus and the only thing that doesn't clog it instantly so far is high-quality fountain pen ink. Which is fun, but I'd get a whole lot more use out of it if I could spray any sort of lacquer. Slow drying and low toxicity would be ideal. Thanks for help/angst/etc. Love you guys.

I need a ton of disposable TF2 hat props for an event but have had some difficulty. These are the best I've found so far, does anyone have better suggestions? Results so far: Scout: 'papercraft batting helmet' get's me Daft Punk or real ones. Soldier: I think people generally just go to surplus stores, no luck on a M1 helmet. Pyro: Jackpot. mfpaper on blogspot has a portal section, I think the hats he has there would work. Demoman: No riot helmets. There's the tophat but I don't feel that's 'iconic' enough. Cheap afro wigs and head bands may be considered a bit racist, which we sadly cannot get away with here. Heavy: Rescale and recolor of the classic football helmet, easily found. Engineer: Hoping to find better, this will do. http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/gallery/gallerydetails.php?id=832 Medic: Google 'papercraft pickelhaube' Sniper: See: Jackpot. Spy: See: Jackpot Edited to hopefully avoid spam filter.

I've been thinking about how to make hexacomb cardboard yourself from cheap paper, maybe butcher paper or brown packing paper. Whatever is cheap honestly. This is my idea: 1. create a jig that has a cross slide for cutters and one for glue strips 2. cut and glue 3. press together, let dry, pull apart, and apply backing and front paper. 4. hexacomb

Heya /po/. I use a few different craft knives regularly, as most of you probably do. A couple weeks ago I decided I wanted to upgrade, find a replacement for the nasty surgical scalpel handle. I quickly found the Olfa AK-4, and despite continuous searching afterwards I couldn't find a higher quality knife. I bought one, and it is definitely the nicest craft knife I've had. I'm really picky about some of my tools though. I'll be content with the Olfa knife if I have to, but I want something nicer. Folding knives and fountain pens both easily go into the $200 range, but I don't need to stab anyone or write a novel. I want to do papercraft. I've ~4 years of machining experience, so making a knife from scratch seemed logical. I'm not that well-off though; I can't put $600 into a single knife, which is probably roughly what it'd cost to make one because of all the tooling required. For instance, the grooves that hold the blade likely will be done by a die sinker EDM, which (you guessed) I don't have in my bedroom. If there's external interest though, this pursuit might be worth the effort. A batch of ten knives is worth the trouble. I don't intend to make any money, despite the labor involved. I'm mostly after a really, really nice knife handle. They'd cost close to USD $250 each. I know this is 4chan and likely not my target audience, but some of you must appreciate top-notch tools. I'm interested in your opinions, suggestions, trolling, etc. Construction details to follow. Picture quite related.

>Really like the idea of building stuff out of paper >Get some cool model >Print every page on high quality paper >Throw everything away after cutting two pages of stuff out of sheer boredom I've tried three times already and the outcome has been always the same. Any alternative to hand cutting? Cricut and stuff like that are a bit expensive and papercrafting is not the main focus of the machine.

I came up with a new (for me) type of pop-up fold that extrudes paper element from a flat piece of paper. Here is a video to show what i mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EudZM9Bv6dE What is this type of fold called and do you know examples of models that use it?

Hey /po/ I found this papercraft patter for a box insert to organize the clusterfuck that is civilization the board game. Original post: http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1393940_md.jpg Link to PDF so you don't have to sign up: https://sites.google.com/site/araknoidgames/images/Civilization_papercraft_box_insert.pdf This is my first time really trying to fold a papercraft pattern. Although I'm totally lost on how to fold this thing. Right now I have page 3 cut out and I've fiddled with it for some time now and can't seem to make anything resembling what I want. If someone could help me try and read this thing I would much appreciate it. It looks like it might need to be cut but it doesn't seem to give and clear indication.

This refers to general /diy/ projects of miscellaneous materials but I figure you guys are the experts on the subject. How can I improve at cutting out polygons? I try and try but it always goes the same: 1) print out polygon template and tape it to whatever material, or use as is if working with paper 2) carefully cut it out with appropriate tool for the material 3) oh, it's a little wonky, lets shave off that other side 1/4 of a mm 4) oh, now it's wonky the other way, lets shave that other side off a tiny bit 5) goto 3 until there's nothing left to cut Please show me how it's done!
