Opinion thread, I've made about 3 of these so far, takes a good while to fold, turns out kind of nice, but there are bits of it that drive me nuts. Especially some of the detail on the face. I tend to skip a bit here and there, partly because I have big hands, should I feel bad? You guys ever leave out part of a fold because its annoying or what have you?

Is it possible to take diagrams (on a computer) and then "fold" them into a 3D model so then the model can be modified? (I guess the opposite of making a model and then unfolding it into diagrams.)

Idea, pls.

I have alot of time im considering starting a papercraft collection as a second hobby after music. im not sure where to start: Mobile Suit Gundam The Legend of Zelda Bad Ass Masks and build up a collection like michael myers or an army of Samurais. What will look bad ass as time moves on? Can i use standard printer paper and chemicals to harden them? Whats will look cool?

/po/ you are my last hope. I'm trying to make a net for a spiral staircase, but I'm having so much trouble picturing it. I know it's not possible to make a one piece net because it will overlap, but I was thinking maybe 3 piece? Definitely less pieces than if I was to add the riser to every thread. Picture related, obviously. Thanks in advance /po/

Fiery Menger Sponge

Hey /po/ I have burned every single Menger Sponge I've built, totalling 8. I never filmed or photographed the event until this last time. I made a level 2 sponge for my friend's birthday last month. It measure around 12x12x12 inches. I used standard 3x5 inch flashcards. Each card I cut into six 1x2.5 inch units for the sponge. Somewhere around 5000 individual units, including the facets. I can't remember.... took me about 25 hours to assemble, including cutting and folding. The colorful fire is from a copper pipe with an old garden hose stuffed into that I threw in the fire.

How to design papercraft

Tl:dr: How do I make a digital template from pencil sketches? Hey /po/, I had been toying with the idea of creating a papercraft version of this character I drew for a long time. At first I wanted to commission someone, but I realized I'd be a lot more satisfied with doing it myself. So I brought out the ruler and graph paper and this was the result. I'm actually quite happy with it, despite a few errors in the net that are easy fixes, but this is where I'm at a loss. I have no idea how to move forward, as in cleaning it up and digitizing it. My first instinct was to recreate the net and scan it, but that wouldn't really work because the measurements on paper were really crude and they only worked by forcing the paper to close gaps, not to mention I also don't have a scanner. Then I figured I would just recreate the net with gimp by creating a grid and just snapping the lines accordingly, but then I ran into problems with line thickness and the lines not snapping to the intersections properly. Basically I just want to know how to make a digital template from my paper designs. Thanks for any help and criticism in advance.

I want to commission a papercraft, so I need to hire a designer. Someone that has shown they can make anything, is known and active for at least 2 years, give DXF files tested and ready for Silhouette, and can deliver before Christmas. Who does /po/ know?
