My half-assed theory of social iq compared to gaming hardware

I've had this idea for a long time. I want to say I don't have hard science to back it up, mostly some impressions from what I've read on autism\mirror neurons\evolution of social intelligence etc. Do you know the difference between CPUs and GPUs and why software rendering sucks so badly in 3D games, despite the CPU being overall much more flexible and advanced than the GPU? I think there is similar situation with general intelligence and social intelligence. The latter is specialized to read social cues, social hierarchy, have social awareness with amazing speed. General intelligence can do this much much more slowly and clumsy because this is basically an emulation mode or software rendering. So the smart autists and socially inept people with high IQ are basically the equivalent of a PC with the latest core i7 and onboard graphics asking why they get 3 fps in Crysis 3 with their super high end cpu (OMG I am so smart why can't i understand how to date girls).

OK /sci/, I try to avoid asking for help here, but I am stuck and could use a guiding hand. I'm not looking for outright answers, just an explanation on how I go about doing this. Given a three phase inverter, the amplitude ratio is the ratio between the peaks of the sin and triangle waves (it's using PWM). Given the amplitude ratios of 0.40, 0.80, 1.00, 1.20, and 1.60, I want to plot the amplitude of the fundamental frequency component of the PWM signal. I imagine doing this involvess Fourier series in some way, but I don't really understand how you do it given such little information. Picture vaguely related, but not specific to this problem.

The more I think and learn, the more I realize that consciousness has to transcend matter. There is no way a bunch of life less atoms can assemble to make a person conciousness. No scientist has come even close to explaining how consciousness works. As expected, because consciouness can not be explained by anything in this realm. Do you fundamentalist scientist really believe that you are just atoms moving? How does atoms moving around in your head make you think, feel, love, build civilization, etc? How do atoms moving around in your head make us able to create mathematics? There is something more going on. Again, if you think im wrong, please tell me exactly how consciousness works and explain how atoms moving produce thought ?

What do you guys think of Professors who make their subjects as hard as possible with a ridiculous grading system that with one mistake on a question your grade goes down by a letter grade? Should professors hand hold students where they try to teach you the subject, or should they have no safety net, and if you sink, you sink? Which type of professor would benefit the science and Math community by trying to improve future colleagues?

Was the evolution from incredibly simple organisms to organisms with genetic code a logical step, or a ridiculously unlikely event that happened to have huge benefits for rapid evolution?

Hey /Sci/ I need some advice. And I think this board is more appropriate than /adv/. I'm a EE major going into junior year and trying to decide what math courses to take. I have already completed 3 semesters of calc(the only math requirements for my program) but I want to take linear algebra and differential equations. Thing is, my Uni has a class that teaches both at the same time and Is geared toward engineering majors. But I could imagine that cramming both topics in one class means that you won't have as good of an understanding if you take both separately. So should i take the Linear Algebra with Diff eq or take them separately. Gracias

What are the dangers of staying awake for over 48 hours straight? Any long term effects on the brain?

Hey /sci/, starting college in the fall, going for bio. I planned on specializing in genetics, but recently I've been very interested in botany and entomology, so I'm not 100% decided. Hoping to get a research position after college. Anyway, what kind of math courses should I expect? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy mathematics and I'm good at it, I just don't enjoy not the monotonous problem after problem of homework some teachers give.

Daily reminder that if you are not taking classes full time or doing an internship over this summer you are worthless and a liberal arts major.
