being a nerd i am, used to look up puzzles a lot in high school. This is one of few that i couldn't solve. Divide this shape by three, each same shapes and sizes. The shapes don't need to be following the grid.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSR_J1748-2446ad >700hz spinning rate >70000000m/s at the equator how does that even work? i know it's a neutron star so it's infinitely much more dense and can probably withstand a lot more spin but that just sounds absurd

I will introduce again the remains of spacecraft that have been discovered in Japan. It was discovered on the 10th of this month. Report of spacecraft discovery joined the Japanese government on the 12th of this month. Receipt number of the report is '0000828902'. There is no confidentiality in this code. Please query the mail addressed to the Japanese government of this code. I can confirm that there was really a mail to tell the spaceship discovery. Total length of about 10m. It is fossilized in a state in which it is set vertically aircraft like a rocket modern. The media has been silent though it is a topic so exciting.

Is this true /sci/ ?

Is it understood why meth is such a powerful aphrodisiac? Could a drug one day be designed that only targets the libido pathway, and lacks meth's severe negative effects? Or is the biochemistry of arousal and libido still not understood? Pic unrelated, obviously.

How important is when you sleep?

14 posts and 0 image replies omitted. Click to view.
We all know lack of sleep, i.e. sleeping for less then 7 hours a day, can have health consequences but how important is the exact time of sleep to your health. Since I'm a NEET I can get around 9 hours of sleep everyday, but some weeks I sleep at 9pm and wake up at 6am and others I fall asleep at 5am and wake up at 3pm. Does this matter or does just the physical act of sleeping matter?

Hi /sci/ I'm trying to solve a problem, I think it's easy but I'm stuck with it, In a SHM the max strenght is 40pi N, the total energy of the movement is 100pi J. Calculate the Amplitude and the k constant of the movement.

Does anyone have any useful tips on making an Al/Ga amalgam. I've already done a proof of concept (5g Al, 2g Ga, tested to see if it was sufficiently reducing (it was)); but my PI wants me to show him a large scale (~500g Al) workup on wed (using actual materials). This is my first demo of this method, any help would be *greatly* appreciated.

rocket in zero-g

How do you start a rocket engine in zero-g space, when the fuel in the tank is just floating weightlessly? When the engine is on, the fuel drops to the "bottom" of the tank and everything works, but how do you start it?

fun math/science games thread I'll start with an easy one: you have 10 seconds to tell if 9991 is a prime or not (you will have to prove your answer and you can't use a computer). >smartie tier: you have only 5 seconds I

Hi /sci/ Has anyone here got a link that calculates Graham's number as an upper bound for the problem it is attributed to? From what I can tell Graham's original proof does not make use of Graham's number, but instead a much lower upper bound. Searching online I've only found attempts at describing it's size along with explanations that it is one of the largest numbers used in a mathematical proof, but I've yet to see/find the proof it was used in.

I have a problem /sci/. I went to this hotel and it has this card slot to open the door and the card is stuck to the key. When the card is off the slot the electricity goes out after 30 seconds. It doesn't have a motion sensor, the card is magnetised(it gets attracted to the metalic eye of the heater). How can I trick the slot so I can keep electricity up to charge my devices while I'm away? I can provide any picture and info you need. Oh and there is no hardward store nearby so I can use only mini market things for dyis.

Multiplication

7 posts and 0 image replies omitted. Click to view.
Is there an easier way to multiply two non-integers than to left shift until one is an integer? Example: 3.1415926 x 1.61803 I don't want to just shift that 5 times then add the 6 parts then shift 5 back. It can't be computationally efficient.
