ITT: Discuss dungeon mastering, vent about your players, and so on Should I show my players the stats of enemies they're fighting, and explicitly state their HP?

I want to make a game for my players where they have no idea they are secretly in a science fiction setting. This is the world, it is a ring (similar to Niven's Ring World or the Halo Arrays) It's 1,000 km wide, has an 11,686,724 km circumference. So it's big but not crazy big. The diameter is comparable to the planet Earth, so it is more in line with the Halo rings size-wise. So this is a thread to talk about fantasy becoming science fiction.

A solar storm has destroyed the world's power grid, chaos slowly builds on populated cities as the pumps working the water supply are out of commission and food becomes scarce due to no way to refrigerate it. Communications are down world wide, and the governments all arround the globe are stretched beyond capacity by any measure. What would you do?

So, I am about to start running a game using the Fate system, let's see what you guys think so far. It is using typical fantasy races and shit, but takes place in 1920's America. Orks running around with Al Capone's outfit and shit, right? Okay, magic has been deemed way too dangerous due to irresponsible wizards for well over 500 years, but every once in a while practicioners pop up or an old artifact is found. That's where the players come in. They round up the artifacts and bust the renegade mages. Sanctioned by the US government, you and your crew are magic-hunting agents in 3 piece suits, sporting tommy guns, and chips on your shoulders the size of dinner plates when it comes to wizards because of all the bullshit you have seen them put into the world. What you think, so far?

Are there any wargames about conventional (and not so conventional) forces taking on giant monsters a'la Godzilla and such? I know there's a few boardgames about it and stuff like Monsterpocalypse, but I was thinking more along the lines of a proper wargame as a fun way to repurpose some of my 6mm Moderns for some pick-up games at my local club. Also because I've been rewatching the Heisei Godzilla films and I've realised that I actually find the monster on monster fights pretty boring aside from the destruction of the surroundings.
