Hi! I'm an archaeologist from Poland and me and my girlfriend have a great passion for everything Peru-related, especially pre-Inca archaeology. Our biggest dream is to trek into Andes Amazones to explore Chachapoya culture's sites. To achieve this, we are competing in a voting contest: HAVE COURAGE Piotr Morawski Memorial Award. We have a blog dedicated to our project, Andean archaeology, etc.: projekt-huaca -> blogspot (in Polish, but there is an option to translate the site). We need votes in order to get to the final 20, you can vote here: miejodwage.pl/glosuj.php?!=ziemia&id=216. (You need to click on "Oddaj g?os" and then fill in your e-mail address and click on a confirmation link in a return message.) It will be well documented journey and we're gonna do it even if we're not gonna win this competition. I'm writing to you because we're running out of places we can ask for help. I think that we've already reached all of our friends, family and colleagues in Poland and right now we're trying to reach out as far as we can. Thank you very much in advance for all the help!

I'm going to live in Berlin for a few months. I've heard its not a safe city at all. Which parts of berlin are the safest? The turc parts (Kreuzberg) or the nazi parts? (Merzahn) Which parts of the town should I avoid? I'm going to ignore the typical trv/ trolls who don't contribute at all to this thread.

Hello, Does anyone here have... 3 posts and 0 image replies omitted. Click to view.
Hello, Does anyone here have any experience with Asiana Airlines? I'm about to take a flight out of New York using Asiana, and when I checked the baggage policy, it says that total check in baggage must equal 50 pounds. Does that mean that both baggage must not exceed 50 pounds or that each bag can go up to 50 pounds each because I thought the latter was standard policy for airlines. Another question is that it says online that no electronics can be packed in with the check-in baggage, but does that mean I can bring my laptop, external drive, keyboards, cameras, etc. on my carry on bags? Why would they allow electronics with the carry on bags but not with the check-in bags? Thanks for your help!

Hey /trv/, so I finally stopped making up excuses to be a pussy and bought my ticket. I arrive on July 16th in Portland and come back from Seattle on August 5th. When my cold clears, I'll try nagging United into letting me extend my layover in Denver to 24 hours without paying extra (canadafag -> international flight) so I can visit a bit. Any anon knows if/how that can be done, by the way? I'm not gonna rent a car, so I'll mainly take the train and bus if need be. I'll have plenty of money saved up to pay for accommodation just in case, but I plan on using Couchsurfing in Portland and Seattle. I did a bit of research (mainly on Wikivoyage) and I found places I'd like to go to (eg Pearl District, Hoyt Arboretum, brew pubs, Seattle Metaphysical Library, etc.), but as you can see, they're pretty well-known. I also plan on doing a 2 or 3-day trip to Victoria, B.C. when in Seattle and also taking different ferries to wander around Puget Sound. This is gonna sound real traveler as fuck, but I'd also like suggestions for more "underground", unusual or weird things to do and places to go. I'm sorry for not being helpful in describing what I'm looking for, but since we're talking about things that are unique to these places, I wouldn't know how to guess. My main goal in taking this trip is going out of my comfort zone and if possible live some adventures, so anything goes. Also, from my research and previous threads about the PNW, I understood that it would be a better idea to stay in Portland a bit longer than Seattle. Would that: >Portland - 10 days >Seattle - 8 days >Victoria - 2 days Be a good plan? /int/-tier shitposting resembling to what we get in Canada threads (like "People from X are assholes" or "Y is a shithole") will be ignored.

Sup /trv/alers. I'm wondering how much a week in Amsterdam would cost? Including airfare, hotel (don't want to stay in a hostel) food and narcotics? Just a rough estimate. I'd be leaving from the NYC area if it helps. Also what's the cheapest time of year to travel to Amsterdam? Poorish-fag here. > pls respond

So I spoke with a friend this weekend who spent 3 months in China after having lived in Taiwan for a year. She was in Hunan and speaks fluent Mandarin and Cantonese, but she's white. Anyway, she's a well-travelled person and described China as probably the most awful place she'd ever been. She said there was a lot of nature, but that the Chinese approach to that is to build a big road through a natural area and then jam it full of tour buses full of people, rather than to establish a good system of trails. She said the people were all extremely rude, xenophobic, racist, sexist, and selfish, constantly ripping her off, and at one point a guy spat on her and said something nasty about Americans (she's not American). She also said girls would call her whore in the street often if/when she was walking with a Chinese male friend, and when travelling with her boyfriend for part of the time (otherwise she was alone), they'd refuse to talk to her, only him, despite him not speaking any Mandarin. Apparently they also became flustered if she mentioned she'd been in Taiwan, and the people all believed it was just another province. What's the deal with China, /trv/, specifically rural parts?

Hey /trv/ I've been wanting to take my gee eff for holidays somewhere like Rome / Venice, perhaps even Greece or N. Africa. Problem is I never look too far ahead for bookings (I never know what might come up) so prices are generally really high. My first question is, how much is a decent price for staying 2-3 nights in Rome with flights GBP? (Doesn't have to be 5* amazing) Also, how does /trv/ rate sites like Groupon? >I could book 3 nights in March in Rome for £185pp (incl. flights)

Hello /trv/, This is going to be my first trip abroad and I'll be visiting Ireland and the UK. I'll be flying into Dublin on the 13th of March and plan to stay in Ireland through St. Patrick's Day before traveling to the UK. I'm really excited about Ireland in particular and I was wondering if you guys could give me some do's and don'ts while in the emerald isle. I love hiking so anything involving roughing it in the outdoors is right up my alley. I'd love to see some Celtic ruins too! Also any tips about travel in general would be very much appreciated, keeping cost down, good places to sleep, things to pack, ect. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxBKgOyMzSc

Studying Abroad in English. Japan offers a fuckton of masters programs in English that foreigners can enter. It's a pretty sweet deal to get a degree, subsidized housing, etc. Plus the coveted visa. Of course the drawback is paying for a masters. Any other countries have as good or better deals? I mean places that are hard to get long-term visas in otherise, like the EU.
