Hey /trv/, So I'm moving out soon and I also plan on going for an intercontinental holiday the following year. What kind of travel bag should I have? What kind of questions do I have to ask myself to decide what kind of bag I want? What should I look (out) for when selecting a bag?

Didn't see one in the catalog so I'll start one. I'm currently in Argentina and want to travel to Patagonia but I heard places like El Chalten and Torres del Paine will be closed during the winter(June to August). Can anyone confirm this or know how to find this out?

I want to teach English in rural china and save about 10-15k in a year. Is that even possible? I've heard it's easy to get hired but the pay sucks. Most of the jobs look like they are volunteer too.

guys ive got a problem. I'm going to the middle east and i was planning on going to egypt across the land border from israel but then i learned they wont sell the visa at that particular land crossing. Im leaving for israel on sunday and there is probably no way to get the egyptian visa and my return flight is out of cairo.... Is there some way I can cross into Jordan/somewhere else, and even buy a flight from jordan to cairo, and then get the visa from the airport in cairo? Im going on this trip Im just trying to figure out how fucked the egypt part is going to be and if i need to re-plan some things...

Visiting Estoril in Portugal, and already there. Is there any useful shit many "tourists" don't know that I should be aware of? I found the taxi number real helpful, they speak English and I don't have to run around like an idiot looking for one when I need one.

Hi, Maybe this in't the right place for this thread, but I would like to have some book suggestion. Basically non-fiction books about adventures that people had while travelling like "One Man Caravan" or "Clandestine: The Pirate Journals of An Irish Exile"

Hey /b/ So I need a little help. I'm stuck in Matamoras Mexico and I need somewhere to stay until Friday. I have 100 US dollars that I will give to anyone that can provide a place to stay and take me to the Brownsville Texas airport on Friday. I'm 18. A male. 100 percent American and I have a passport and the plane ticket.

I am going to Russia and will make use of couchsurfing. Now I can't get a visum because of the 'tourist visa support letter', which you can get from the government or from big hotel corporations. I don't want a fucking hotel, so Russians and Russia-experts, how do I get this letter anyway? For free would be nice, I'm a cheap bastard.

Planning to travel Poland/Germany/Prague/maybe Austria for 2 weeks or so. However, this is my first trip I have to organize to Europe and I am also going with family members. I have previously been to Amsterdam->Antwerp->Paris in a short trip years ago so I wanted to get a different taste (plus I am a bit of a Poleaboo) I have been planning a fairly quick tour along the lines of something like Berlin->Dresden->Prague->Krakow or Munich->Prague->Vienna->Krakow I want to make much of a trip as possible, but I do not want to make a taxing schedule to look at all the attractions. Going to some major attractions and relaxing in local restaurants or cafes would be nice. Still I have no idea what I am really saying or expecting so I was wondering if this route is doable or decent and what would be some things or places you'd recommend or shed light on?

Hey /trv/, So I'm heading over to New Zealand for 5 days as I have no work for that said time. I want to head to South Island and see some of the mountain ranges, possibly climbing and camping in the area. I intend to fly into Christchurch, but I'm not sure how I should do this, I can either rent a camper van and travel as a like and camp as I like (possibly quite expensive) or I can get a bus out there which is cheaper ($40 each way) and just try to find camp ground / use a tent and sleeping bag.. The later seems like it might be difficult as I can only have 10kg carry on baggage. All up I have $1000 to spend, $400 of which goes to flights and insurance. So $600 for food and accommodation. Any recommendations on how I should get the best experience of the mountains and of any cool things around Christchurch?

To anyone who has entered China on a tourist visa. At the airport, do they ask to see an onward flight ticket? I already provided this as part of the visa application process.... but I've cancelled my flights already because I'm not sure exactly what dates I'll be entering/leaving.

I'm finishing up a study program in Valparaíso Chile within the next week but don't want to go back to States just yet. I was thinking about traveling to either Buenos Aires or Peru/Machu Picchu for 3-7 days after my program ends; does anyone have any advice on which would be more interesting? Or have any other South American travel suggestions within that time frame (barring Brazil; I don't want to fuck with that place during the world cup) that they can share? Thanks

Me and my girlfriend are flying to San Diego for a week to visit her sister. I have been to LA and Vegas last summer and have seen all the national parks in that area, but since I traveled with my parents I couldn't really go to all the hip places for younger people. What are the best attractions in San Diego and surrounding areas that we can get to by using public transport? I am very weary of tourist traps and would like to avoid anything that involves gift shops and lots of fatties with their loud kids. That means no San Diego zoo. We already have plans to go to a beach (which one is the best?) and visit USS Midway (sister and her husband are in the navy and for some reason haven't seen it yet). We are from a shitty Chicago suburb and love both big cities and wild nature. I also like to take pictures, so any picturesque place suggestion is very welcome. I'll be dumping pictures from last year's trip, which was planned with the help of people from this board and turned out great. Starting with a mountain somewhere near hoover dam

Thailand sound like a nice place to live for cheap while doing freelance work. Ocean is there, nice weather is there, women are there, everything is there. What are some other countries like it where there's good climate all year around with ocean access and a way to live cheaply.
