So I know some purists are going to talk about how inaccurate and terrible mame is. My question is where are we on 3d mame games? Anyone been keeping up with that? I've got a mame arcade cabinet back at my parents house that has like all of the 2d game's but I'm interested in what ever happened to the 3d games, even the early ones. Are we ever going to get the powerstone rom, etc?

My faulty memory needs your help! There was this adventure rpg I used to play on my uncle's PC equipped with some very ancient version of Windows (3.0?) It was black and white and about a guy who crashed his spaceship on some weird planet. Realistic graphics, resembling Dark Castle does this ring a bell?

help me /vr/, I'm looking for DoS action adventure games or action rpgs. Stuff similiar to the original zelda. Just looking for fun stuff to play with a joystick or pc controller while I can sit back. Joystick support isnt necessary as long as I can use a joy2key mapper. Dos game thread though I guess.

How does one go about building, modding or acquiring a component output nes?

They're out there, they exist. I just don't want to buy one off ebay at $400. New component cables coming out for the snes. How hard is it to find the last modeled nes with the snes composite input? Pic related.

I have a chance to get this really cheap (a buck). Is it worth adding to my collection? I love Space Invaders but didn't care for look of the game. Help me, /vr/. Also, Space Invaders 64 general.

Analogue

I know this picture will raise a shitstorm, but let's have a somewhat civil conversation about this. I don't own an NES, but have been planning to get one RGB-modded when I do. Now that GameTech came out with their HDMI board, I was planning on having them installed as well. So let's say I get a loose top loader with a controller and cables. What will that run me cheapest? $60 in fantastic shape? Then with all the modding done for me (since I can't into solder), not to mention the cost of the products, that'll run me just over $130. But that's just for the NES. What about the Famicom? Let's say double that for the Fam. That's about $400 right there. Then you get add the Four Score. And Analogue has their fancy-schmancy aluminum block. By my grade-school math calculations, they're charging about $50 over what they should be. I'm assuming that, should anything go wrong, they'll be quick to address the issue. So you get a warranty. Is anyone out there getting this? I scoffed at the product when it was released. but having a complete all-in-one package that can play on both CRTs and HDMI TVs is starting to sound appealing...

3D Platformers

What are everyone's favorite retro 3D Platformers? The more collectables the better! I never really played a ton of them until the PS2 days with its ton of great platformers, so I'm going back lately to the retro consoles and playing as many as I can. Replaying the Medievil games as well, as I loved them as a kid. They were the reason I thought "medievil" was the correct spelling of "medieval" for years during elementary school - a mistake a still make from time to time if I'm not paying attention. Glad to see they both really hold up well today. General 3D platforming thread? The best genre

What's /vr/'s opinion of the Mother series? Also, general Mother thread, I guess. I started playing through Earthbound a few days ago, and I plan on playing Mother 3 soon.

Is there a name for games like Bubble Bobble, Snow Bros, Zupapa, Tumble Pop and the like? All I have for a name right now is Bobblevania. Share your favorite Bobblevania game /vr/ (besides the obvious Bubble Bobble). Pic related has been my favorite ever since I first saw it in the arcades.

What are stupid ways you got stuck in retro games, or really obvious things you didn't realize until it was too late? When I first played Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon on N64, I didn't realize that Impact had other attacks besides shooting coins/ryo. I spent hours on the first Impact boss until I finally beat him with just the coins. Imagine my frustration when I realized later that Impact had way more attacks.

Going on peeps. I just completed Chrono Trigger for the first time and I was satisfied as fuck. Now a sense of dread has crawled upon me so answer me this, cause I am a narrow minded simpleton who must rely on others for answers and solace. Final Fantasy VI or Chrono Trigger?

Do you think the retro gaming bubble is ever going to pop? I've been collecting games since I first got my own money, but I pretty much had to give it up because of these rich spoiled fucks who pay whatever sellers demand without thinking. It's getting cheaper to import Japanese games than buy ones that were produced here.

Mega Man

I guess rank your favourites for original and X's. Discuss those that are technically retro. Or any thing else retro Mega Man. Working on Xtreme on my 3DS right now. 4>7>3>9>6>10>2>5>1>8 X2>X6>X5>X3>X>X4>X7>X8

Shadowgate Thread

Since you're the only ones who might have actually played this game and as /v/ has shitposted its way to a bumping-system that makes it impossible to discuss niche games, I gotta ask: How is the new Shadowgate and is it worth the 10 bucks? Other Shadowgate games also welcome. Especially SG64. That shit looked great but I never got to play it.
