Okay. Stupid rant here. I've tried for months to remove discoloration from some of my video game cartridges. I've tried all types of cleaners and even mixed up a batch of retr0brite. Nothing works. In fact, the retr0brite created even more white streaks on the cartridges and made them appear bleached. Even if I did something wrong, I'm just too mentally burned out to continue messing with this. I know it probably sounds ridiculous, but I'm really OCD about this stuff. Knowing these discolored games are in my possession is like this pervasive feeling of something being terribly wrong *throbbing* in my head because I know there's no way I can fix the problem. At this point, I'm conceding there are absolutely nothing left to do but give away a portion of my personal gaming collection, because it's causing me unhealthy levels of anxiety. So, yeah. I'm just boxing this shit up and dropping it off at a used game store. RIP, game collection =( For those curious, the games most affected are Mario Bros. classic for NES, Link's Awakening, Final Fantasy Legend III and StarTropics. Unfortunately the eBay sellers I bought them from weren't entirely honest about their respective conditions, and none of them would cooperate in attempts to return the items for refunds.

Game Paradoxes

So let's talk about games where paradoxes happen and what we think of them. In Capcom vs SNK you see Haohmaru, Nakoruru and Hibiki. Capcom vs SNK 2 takes place WAY after their time and realistically they would be resting in peace, so this begs the question; Were they brought back to life? or are they actually cosplayers that happen to know the style of the character they are portraying perfectly well? What are some other paradoxes in /vr/ games?

ITT: Japan-exclusive games that... >have an english translation patch OR don't require understanding Japanese to play >are NOT turn-based fantasy RPGs unless they have something quirky about them that sets them apart (examples: Live-a-Live, Mother) Pic related is Gunman's Proof for the SNES, seems like a Zelda-style game but in the wild west.

ITT: Relaxing games. Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future is one such game. Not only is it absolutely beautiful since the scenery was based off of real photos but the graphic quality is high and the draw distance out of water is extremely far so you see amazing sunsets and awesome waterfalls and shores. Swimming around can be really satisfying. Ecco can swim very fast, to the point where getting disoriented is easy, but the player can have great control. They can barrel roll in the water, swim backwards, turn on a dime and tailwalk on the surface. Plus, players can dash out of the water into the air and do tricks, including smiling and cackling. After the first level it's possible to interact with turtles and fish as well. Just swimming around doing flips and cackling as you tailwalk is super relaxing and really fun. Of course the game holds great danger for our underwater hero, but there are plenty of spots where you can just screw around and have fun without any worries. What other games are like this? Off the top of my head I can think of Harvest Moon and Chrono Trigger (the end of time is super relaxing to me)

This game came out when I was 12, and I loved it and have always regarded with with extreme reverence. While I recognize now that it probably isn't "The best game in the history of the universe", it is damned amazing, and I finally realized why... Over the weekend, I played it again for the umpteenth time. Usually take it slow, explore every nook and cranny, do most sidequests, but this time I decided to just make a beeline for Ganon. It was in this mad sprint for victory that I realized how wonderfully crafted this game truly is. If you want to, you can speed through, hopping from dungeon to dungeon, only doing the bare minimum, and this game doesn't hinder you in the least. All of the extra content falls away, and you get a streamlined, straightforward dungeon crawl that constantly keeps you invested. If you decide you want to do everything, talk to every NPC, complete every optional quest, you're rewarded well for your efforts, and you can easily double or triple your play time. A modern Zelda game would hold you back relentlessly. Try to sprint through them, and unless you know a trick or glitch, you'll be bogged down in mandatory fetch quests, padding and hand-holding. Ocarina of Time mastered the balance of fulfilling different play styles 16 years ago, all while writing the book on 3-D adventure gaming, practically from scratch. I know this game has its naysayers, but it didn't earn all of its praise for nothing. Every aspect may not be the best it could be, but the game has no real flaws. It kind of is a masterpiece.

I am looking to buy some virtual consoles for my original wii. I was wondering what you guys would suggest. I dont often get to play multiplayer but it is occasional. I was thinking maybe Mario Party 2, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart 64. Im not a huge fan of Zelda but it is a possibility. So what would you guys suggest?

I drive a cab and have some pretty long stretches of inactivity where I just sit around and do shit. I Listen to the radio or read mostly. I just bought an old PSP and put firmware on it and am ready to go. I'm looking for a game (I just want to get one at a time and beat it, then download another.) ..Just looking for suggestions on what YOU would pick. Open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Oh my god, someone help me out here I'm going fucking insane. I'm trying to remember a game that I think was an original gameboy game. I'm pretty sure it was a bomberman game, but it was kinda also a weird ripoff of pokemon. I don't remember much about it except that the first creature you collect/find/get/whatever always reminded me of pikachu. You used the monsters to solve different puzzles so it was kind of like HMs in pokemon. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would be so thankful.

Hello /vr/ I'm trying to hunt down a game that I saw on a demo disk sometime. It's a PC top-down view survival game, where you crash land on some planet and you need to repair your ship. Gotta collect all kinds of crap to survive and fix the ship. There are different race choices, but I only remember there being humans and some alien with night vision. Temperature and hunger was something to watch out for. For the life of me I can't remember what it's called or when it was made, but I'm certain it's pretty old. Gotta be atleast 5-10 years old by now. pic unrelated
