What would you say is the best and most easily accessible RPG for beginners to the genre? Pic related, it's my vote. I may be wrong, but I think it was the first RPG I ever played.

Please, help me find this game /vr/ >2D >each level is a vertical labyrinth filled with monsters >there were levers you had to push to open doors >played in circa 2002, but it was probably much older

I'm looking for the name of a nes game. It was all written in japanese so i can't remember it. The game was about fighting in teams of 2 or 4 members against other teams, in different scenarios. You could make tandem special moves with your teammates. The characters looked a bit like the ones of the image i posted (river city ransom), but apparently both games are not related. Sorry about providing so little and unclear information, but does anyone know the name of the game i'm looking for? thanks in advance

How are 3DOs? Found one on my local Craigslist for $25 (pictured). Comes with 3 games. Do I jump on it? I don't know anything about 3DOs but $25 seems way too cheap.

I just got back from the new Godzilla movie and it got me thinking that I've never played a Godzilla video game. I'm hoping there might be one or two good ones out there and it's not all just a bunch of licensed crap. Any suggestions?

I'm kind of done collecting normal retro games at the moment and I wanted to maybe start looking at homebrews and quality reproductions. What are some reproduction and homebrew games that will work without me having to mod my systems?

The other day I purchased an OpenPandora (140€, couldn't say no). I installed Theme Hospital, a bunch of emulators and both Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy so far. What are some good retro games for this device? Anyone here who owns one and can share experiences? I noticed that there is even a Starcraft port. I'll probably check that out next. tl;dr OpenPandora thread. Chink Android Tablets need not apply.

What is the best cable I can buy for the genesis 2? I am stuck with only the RF cable that came with it.

After playing this, I realized it is pretty much Demon's Souls before Demon's Souls even existed. >Protagonist can't die until fulfilling a certain objective >Multiple stages you can enter whenever >There's an overworld with a calming, ambient theme >Each stage has a really stark, macabre setting >You can find unique weapons throughout the stages >All the bosses are pretty damn memorable due to the fact that they're mostly eldritch abominations And lastly, it is hard as fuck. Really, really goddamn hard. I'm sure a lot of you here have played it, but for those who haven't, find a rom and play this game right goddamn now.

Space invaders on low-level hardware

Competition in our class to see who created the best game, winner has 27 likes atm ;/ I created a retro "space invaders" game on a TM4C microcontroller. Whole game is based on hardware interrupts and polling :P Pretty hard to create a game being limited to 32kB, especially adding in BMP's and 11khz WAV's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W58Uxts2BXs Please like my video :D

Games featuring religions/faiths in meaningful, involving ways (not merely in a background capacity)? Morrowind comes to mind, with two joinable religious factions, one native, one foreign, plus pilgrimage sites. Even Oblivion had the potential now that I think about it, with all those lovely cathedrals.

Dear god /vr/ I need your help. Yes I'm trying to remember a game. I will describe in as much detail possible. You own a colony on a planet. You take on a bunch of missions. Some involve collecting artifacts Some planets are rich in ores. You need to gather ore to gain research and build new ships The most observable thing is that you had to breed pilots in vats. The more you spent on these VAT heads, the better they would pilot the crafts you placed them in. The objective was to wipe out all the rival colonies. Other interesting features: The game had both a turn based and a real time strategy element in the battle scenes. The game was essentially turn based (I think) from the colony management scene, but when you were in missions (which took the form of a 2d top down layout) it could be turn based or real time. I'm afraid this is as much as I can remember. I've found so many other old games and THIS game just cannot be found. Game I think came out before 2004. Please help. Pic slightly related.
