Alrighgt /vr/ so i bought a copy of gyromite off of ebay and when i played it it was actually a game called chubby cherib. Has anyone else been a victim of someone swapping the insides of an nes cart?

Have you ever had any negative or positive experiences involving younger people and retro games? My daughter is elementary age so I decided to let her start playing games. I've been collecting since high school so I have a nice sized collection by now.. She prefers 32 bit over 16 but has never whined.

I just started playing the Tex Murphy games, and I've been having trouble getting into Mean Streets. Is it worthy playing through? Will it add anything to the other games?

Reminder of one of the most underrated fighting games (if not the most) on history, between those who were created specifically for 16 bit consoles, not being arcade adaptations. Only 7 characters, but each with at least 12 special moves, and 6 normal moves completely different, not ripping the same frame with different damage. Completely original and unique history, each character got different finals depending on who kills on their path. Awesome graphics and sound, also epic soundtracks. Completely new and unique fighting style, based only on weapons. Three different ways to block, normal block, strong block and deflect. Final moves, you have to perform it as a combo, there are no "finish him" time. All characters have an specific part of their wear who can be ripped at any moment of the battle, also weapons can be broken. Though all it's complexity, it's friendly and easy to catch even for those who doesn't play fighting games often. Maybe forgetting something Rarely you'll see so much effort and dedication on something, it could have been a samurai showdown knock off with barbarian characters, but it wasnt, it's worth to be mentioned.

So, what do you guys think of Fire Emblem Gaiden? I've played to near the end of chapter 3, but it got stale along the way. I appreciate how it tries to be different from the first game, but it falls short imo. The maps aren't as well designed as in the first game as many of them are open fields without much going on. I also find it interesting how Intelligent Systems decided to develop another Fire Emblem for the Famicom instead of moving on to Nintendo's new console. They also did the same thing with Thracia 776 on the SFC instead of the N64.

This game makes me want to BLOW MY GODDAMN BRAINS OUT! Let me see if I understand. >You want 3 different character types. >White Mage, Black Mage, and Fighter >You train each one of them by using their specialty over and over again. But then how come my healer, Firion won't fucking level up? I mean I never use his Cure spell because I tend not to need it, and besides you gain levels for ending a battle on low HP so why would I, but I've even tried using the select/cancel trick. Why I am I not seeing any results?

Does /vr/ like these games? I loved them when I was younger (Junior High or so) but I don't know how they hold up if at all. The female characters are all eminently fappable, I'll say that. I like animu a WHOLE lot less now than I did then, so that might be a factor. But I recall them being solid games.

Yeah, take a look. Apparently fully functional, not just a mockup. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/123439-Fan-Auctioning-Off-Rare-Sega-Saturn-Prototype

Hey, Evan Amos here. I'm a photographer who takes good pictures of video game consoles and puts them on Wikipedia and into public domain so anyone can use them. I see my pictures used here a lot, so I thought you guys might want to see the new stuff I've been doing. I had a successful Kickstarter that let me create expanded galleries, which I'm working on now. You can an example here for the Atari Jaguar: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Evan-Amos/VOGM/AtariJaguar or here for the Atari Lynx: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Evan-Amos/VOGM/AtariLynx More galleries like that are coming, but I also have general stuff on my main page: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Evan-Amos/VideoGames

I've been getting into horror games lately. Maybe it has to do with me becoming a young adult, maybe I'm just going through a 2edgy4me stage, but horror is fun. I noticed there are a shit ton of PS1 horror games for some reason..

Why hasn't /vr/ made any essentials charts? We're a year old, don't you think it's about time? Like NES essentials by genre, SNES essentials by genre, PC essentials by genre, etc. We could have a top 10 or 20 per section.

The whole Might and Magic saga is on sale on GOG. As someone who doesn't have any knowledge of the games, other than hearing it's good around these parts, would you recommend it?

Is there a version of the game that include the naboo starfighter without the need to input the code? Mine don't but i remember as a kid borrowing the game from a friend and playing the ship without a code. Considering the game don't save the passcode and need to be entered everytime.

So I downloaded shmup mame for savestate support but now none of the roms I try on it seem to work. Seem to require an older romset version or some such. Is there something like a torrent or preconfigured pack for shmup mame?
