When emulating, do you often use the special "perk" features, mainly fast forwarding, filters, and save states? Personally, I've grown into the habit of abusing the hell out of the turbo key, especially when emulating RPGs. As for filters, I sometimes use the HQ filter for cartoonier games, but for most games, I use "TV Mode" type filters, or none at all for most NES or Game Boy games. Savestates just feel like straight up cheating to me. The only time I don't mind using them is in a game without a save or password feature.

Most of these games fucking sucked, but nostalgia keeps bringing me back. Is there something wrong with me, /vr/?

Sup /vr/, I've been trying to play the first "Driver" game. But whenever I get to the main menu it crashes and gives me this message. Wat do? Google gives me nothing.

What's up /vr/. I am thinking about buying a retro console because I don't have one at the moment. Which console(s) would you suggest I buy? Thought I would come here for your wonderful opinions on the subject.

Stop The Madness Petition

IS THIS GAME ANY GOOD? WHAT SHOULD I PLAY FIRST? IS IT OK IF I EMULATE/FILTER/SAVESTATE XGAME? THIS GAME HAS AGED BADLY THIS GAME IS OVERRATED DID I MAKE A GOOD PURCHASE? EVERY. DAMN. SUMMER. Why won't you children go back to your home boards? And why won't you autists stop responding to these idiot threads? Even when someone makes a "Stupid Question" thread, they won't contain themselves and their laziness/stupidity to it. Serious questions here, because these idiotic"I can't remember the name of x-game"-type threads actually push decent topics off of the board. I honestly spend more time in the archives than I do here, and that is just sad.

What takes more skill? Competitive level FPS like Quake 3 and CS1.6 or competitive level fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, etc?

What are some obscure NES games that /vr/ would recommend?

Let's have a thread about games of games. What are some of your favourites? Despite not being very good at it I love me some Battle Chess. I'm also looking for a good version of Hanafuda for PS1 but I'm not having much luck.

I fucked up and posted this on /v/, sorry. What's a fair price for this game? There's a store near where I live that's selling a copy but I never found out how much they want for it. I also don't know what condition it's in (IIRC it had four discs so it may be missing one or something like that). I'd say $400 is my limit for how much I'd be willing to pay.

Castlevania Bosses Thread

Favorite Castlevania bosses and how you beat them, description on the strategy you took to beat them would be appreciated. My personal favorite is the Medusa head, because it was so easy, so I was thinking Castlevania might not be as hard as everybody said it was. I was wrong. Oh, so wrong.

Raspberry Pi Emulation Thread

Hey /vr/ Why does everyone hate the Raspberry Pi for........ well anything? I am actually having a ball using mine as a emulation machine. I can emulate SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, and PS1 rather well clocked at 900 Mhz. I am using Arch Linux and am not booting into X. Opinions of this little machine as an emulation device? Works well on my end, especially for the cash. What have you managed to emulate with it? What have you failed to emulate with it? For me I have failed to emulate N64 games, the PS1 version of Silent Hill and games that require keeping up with the time such as some pokemon games. Everything else works like a dream.

Do you guys want to start playing Ultima Online and start a /vr/ group? I was thinking about playing that new An Corp shard but I don't want to play alone.

What is the point of this game?

I started playing the original Sonic the Hedgehog. It has fun game play and good music, but I can't figure the objective of the game out. These are a dumb set of questions, so prepare yourself. Is there more of an emphasis on clearing a stage as quick as possible? Are there ways to collect all of the rings in each stage while still clearing a stage quickly?
