Probably some flipped normals. Make sure all the normals are aligned in the same direction.

Based on this image, I would say that your normals are fine.

The artifacts you're seeing are due to double faces.
You can tell because the renderer is having a hard time deciding which poly should go on top, so there's a hint of white poly behind it.

Does anyone know what's causing this? Someone suggested inverted normals, but they look fine to me.

In your viewport, go to Lighting>Two Sided Lighting. If you can see the texture in those black areas when this is on, then it's the normals. Otherwise, those areas just don't have the same material for some reason, or those faces have UV's in spots that are black.
