Nothing excites me anymore. I try to do things I used to enjoy like watching movies, playing video games, or working out and it bores me. I do it for 5 minutes and don't want to do it anymore. All I want to do is sleep. Is this depression or just something that will pass?

Could be depression, especially if it stays like this. Could also just be a natural low.

Try a total change of scenery or schedule for a little bit, even if just a long weekend. You may just be fatigued from your life.

But if it is intractable and/or gets worse then it probably is depression.

It means it's time to try out new things. Sounds simple, but sometimes you outgrow the stuff that used to excite you. Your mind needs some new stimulations.

Sounds like depression. How often do you leave your house?

Last week I was feeling really bad, something i've never experienced before. Just fantasizing about isolating myself from everyone and being alone. Think it's related?

I'm started working tomorrow so maybe that will help.

Not OP here, but I've been like this since January of last year and it hasn't got better. I tell myself all the time to try and enjoy things but it never actually happens. I just feel so tired all of the time now.

Any examples? What do you like to do?

Every day but it's because I force myself to because it's not healthy to stay inside all the time. Go to the gym 3 times a week and walk for an hour the days i'm not at the gym.

Damn, i'm sorry to hear that. Have you seen your doctor? I think I may try St. John's Wort or something.

Yes, it is probably related. You're obviously in some sort of funk. It is hard to say if it is definitely clinical depression or not. But it sounds likely to be depression. Isolation is a big part of that. Work will be a change up, which is good. Any change can be a positive change. If this gets worse, see a doctor who can diagnose you properly. Sometimes your brain chemicals can become imbalanced and if that happens that isn't something you can just "think your way out of".

That definitely sounds like a medical issue, whether it is depression or some sort of problem causing you fatigue and depression. You've got to see a professional. That is too long to suffer man. There is a world of help out there for you. It can and does help.

St. John's wort is good. However just in case you are a female on birth control, taking St. John's wort makes hormonal birth control less effective.

You could also try L-theanine. I find it really great for anxiety and stress. I have some little coffee flavored tabs of it that are great. I also have a sleep supplement with it as well as melatonin. If you aren't sleeping well that can really degrade your mental status and it is possible that you are sleeping but you're sleeping poorly.

I always think that it's going to pass soon and for that reason I've never thought I needed to get any help.
I think I can function well enough to live and therefore it's not serious enough to see a doctor. I think I'd just be wasting their time. And it would be so embarrassing, I really don't like talking about myself in this way.

You sound a lot like me. Embarrassment is the only reason I haven't been to and I haven't tried to kill myself so I keep thinking it's not that bad.

Not OP but I've been feeling the same way, and I don't leave the house often.
