Gecko enclosure Spafag 06/29/14(Sun)22:10 UTC+1 No.1665614 Report

Hi, here spafag wants to have a gecko but needs to travel every two or three months. Short trips from spain to france.

I was wondering, is this portable plastic enclosure appropiate for one single gecko??

size: 56 x 38,5 x 25,5 cm

I would remove the plastic plant and put some caves instead.

Yes but I wouldn't use it - Heres why:

that enclouse is large enough. It's essentially the measurements of a 10gallon, minus a couple inches on the height.

However heating that would be a bitch.

Over heads and leopard geckos aren't needed as they get heat from their bellies. So you'd use a heat pad, but potentially warp the bottom. Also how will you provide heat during the trips? You'd have to secure the stuff in the cage when you move also because it could slide and hit and pinch the gecko.

A ten gallon is also minimal. But not preferred.
You cant create a nice thermal gradient w/ a 10 gallon enclosure like yours. Also yours has too much coverage and would be too humid..

Why not get a 15 gallon long made out of plexi? They're light and durable. Your gecko would be happier, and you could secure things better to plexi than what Im assuming is cheap plastic.

thanks mate

during the travel my strategy would be to remove the gecko and put it in a smaller box to carry with me, in the style of messenger packages, as I put the enclosure in the luggage, I thought the animal would stand some hours with no heat.

Also I never heard of plexi tanks, I'm gonna google that, any recomended link?

Cheers!
