Drama = Attention
Drama = Attention Anonymous 06/24/14(Tue)14:37 UTC+1 No.7634018 Report

Anyone else tired of the drama, real or not spawned by cosplayers just to get attention and/or likes on their pages?
>>
Anonymous 06/24/14(Tue)14:40 UTC+1 No.7634020 Report

Nope.
>>
Anonymous 06/24/14(Tue)14:47 UTC+1 No.7634025 Report

Depends on the drama. If it's bullying, I think people have a right to speak out.
>>
Anonymous 06/24/14(Tue)14:55 UTC+1 No.7634034 Report

The situation with the Grell cosplayer is an exception because that was obviously fake but most cosplayers post about things that can be proven. It's for awareness, not for attention.

Anonymous 06/24/14(Tue)14:59 UTC+1 No.7634041 Report

Did anything come after that Grell incident aside the supposed deleted fb post saying it was exaggerated/didn't happen?

From what I heard is that he's avoiding answering any more asks on Tumblr about it even ones that are asking how he's been since the supposed incident. This led many people to believe he was lying about it. Not to mention his stories kept changing.

Theres a girl who is doing this to garner attention and pity on tumblr about a story involving her abusive ex as she claims and however its not exactly to gain followers but rather to get as much people to side with her about it and judging from what I see she has a serious vendetta against him for dumping her but of course she claims to her followers that shes the victim and of course the fact she made a tumblr during the same time of the incident she made for him is further proof of this. Of course the guy wants to do something about the threats and prove in court that shes been lying but cannot for fear of having repercussions if he does so example her followers or friends seeking him out to assault him

Anonymous 06/24/14(Tue)15:10 UTC+1 No.7634059 Report

I believe some cosplayers want some sort of attention one way or another, so they do stuff like the Grell cosplayer in order to get it. His story was even reposted by Yaya. In all, he got what he wanted. Senpai finally noticed him.

Unpopular opinion time, because I know you assholes feed off of this shit, but I'm sick of drama in general. It's just so exhausting and such a huge waste of time at this point to always be assaulted from all sides with petty bullshit, more than half of it unfounded hearsay. I just want to come here to get help with construction questions, and to get brutally honest critique. I want to look at pretty cosplay. I could give two shits about who slept with who, who's a supposed bitch, who has a vendetta against who. Y'all have the mental age of 12 to be so invested in this shit.

different anon. Its just that the drama adds a bit of change to things. Mixes things up a bit instead of the usual. If you wanna look at pretty cosplay go by yourself without other people to throw you into the hole.
That or just make yourself clear to people who drag you there that you dont need to be with em,

You can't actually prove that stories like these are false, but going by common sense and knowing that some things don't add up people come to that conclusion. As for the Grell, there were several things that didn't make sense in her story like how her dad told her to "not go to the police" and that she "thought she was too young to report it". The girl is in high school. How the hell can you be too young to report abuse?
>>
Anonymous 06/24/14(Tue)16:41 UTC+1 No.7634189 Report

This is why I don't believe shit on tumblr. Most of those stories are made up for notes.
>>
Anonymous 06/24/14(Tue)16:46 UTC+1 No.7634197 Report

I think we need places like 4chan to be able to discuss things like this candidly. Facebook and tumblr will IMMEDIATELY jump to the defense of these people at face value. There was also that one where the girl allegedly got a duffle bag with $4000 worth of cosplay stuff stolen from her trunk. Something that could totally happen, yes, but the more she described the situation the less sense it made. Meanwhile this Grell had a history of random drama on her tumblr, it was just this one in particular that sparked interest and sympathy. Both instances resulted in donations for the victim which in the end is what I think it's about.

Say what you will about 4chan or cgl but we don't take shit at face value.

You have options to ignore it. so do it. The last bit of drama I remember even remotely involing myself in was the Ashley crap right after some trip tried to befriend her (and by befriend I mean she tried to make her look like a bigger ass). Smooth sailing since.
Stop involving yourself

>I've been here for 4 years you guise!!!

but then

>Why all the dramu? This is so dumb. It's like you guys are 12 years old. Moar. dresses, less gossip :(

As long as any group isn't strictly monitored, drama will become a part of it. For women or for men. Except that I find men to have a shorter attention span, so while dramu occurs, it quickly switches over to that girl who just walked by's ass. Cause dat ass.

/cgl/ is a loosely (if at all?) monitored/moderated board. So drama is expected and (while some lie and say it isn't ) appreciated.

Pretty much everyone here was convinced it was a total lie or a half truth and just a way to get extra money through pity donations. Honestly they probably could have gotten away with it if they hadn't made so many damn inconsistencies in their story.

>No contact information on the macro
>Two costumes complete with wigs and armor were in a really big duffle bag in my trunk
>Also a ton of my crafting appliances were in there
>Someone smashed my car window and opened the trunk to steal it during the day in a public area
>I had everything in the duffle bag because I was taking it to the post office because this was a big expensive commission

Except for when I contacted the city police department and they confirmed she filed a police report with all the above listed, which I posted. I don't like her either but deliberately leaving out facts is really stupid. Also the things were in the duffle because she was going to a friends house to work on the costumes.

I bring stuff to friend's places too to work on stuff but I bring a couple pieces and the materials I need. Was she planning to stay the week and work on stuff because why would you bring EVERYTHING? You can call the police and report anything being stolen. Honestly I think her car was broken into, and maybe a couple thing were stolen, but I highly highly doubt every single part of the costume was present and taken.

I was once like you.
It's just a stage. When I first found /cgl/ I just wanted to show my progress, get feedback, and help other cosplayers.
Then I started to notice the drama, it was so tiring and the constant bitching was overwhelming.
And now finally I thrive for it. Perhaps it has a lot to with the fact I'm getting old, the drama is a fresh bit of fun in between my otherwise long work and study hours.
It's something to look forward to, to have a break in between real life, and have a giggle at other peoples drama. I don't watch tv otherwise, this is my weekly sitcom drama.

Your reply makes no sense in regards to what's being said here; Someone already asked for the source of where she said she admitted she lied about the story even though >>7634165 and >>7634809 sound like they seriously believe her anyways, hence >>7634851 thinking they're from the same anon and calling them a tumblrfag.

Also, a lot of times telling someone to go back to tumblr is justified in that someone is shitposting in a very tumblr-like manner, such as asking for something to be tagged for triggers or throwing in /lgbt/ and /pol/ bullshit in cosplay posts.

I can't believe the girl in OP went to class dressed like that and /didn't/ get any negative comments. imo I bet someone said something to her and got in a verbal fight but she exaggerated the rest.
When I was in high school I can remember people ganging up on a lolita girl in the middle of the hallway and people didn't give a shit, I'd imagine people did the same to her.
