How do I buckle these shoes?
How do I buckle these shoes? Anonymous 06/24/14(Tue)20:43 UTC+1 No.7634612 Report

I know I'm going to sound like a total dumbass but please hear me out. I bought these shoes off of taobao and I can't figure out how to close it. I've never had a clasp like this one before. Please help!

I was assuming the clasp part hooks somewhere onto the back of the buckle, but there's not enough room to do that. And then I tried putting it through a hole, which works, but I don't think that's how it's supposed to look.

I didn't really understand your description and it would be easier to tell from looking at the whole shoe but I think it's meant to buckle like this, with the clasp in front of the buckle. Sorry if you can't understand this crappy picture.

This is how you're supposed to close them, lots of Asian shoes seem to have that kind of clasp. Also ignore the tape, I'm in the middle of fixing these.

So they pay money for an extra piece (the hook) instead of just attaching the buckle properly??? Jesus, just find a shoe repair place and have them replace the elastic with the buckle on it instead of using that retarded hook.

It actually makes the shoes a lot easier to get on and off since you don't have to fuss with the buckle, just the hook.

which also extends the life of the strap.

Oh shit, I have shoes like that and was wondering about the same exact thing. I didn't know how to ask or how to search it online (google: mary janes hook buckle) wat

The problem is that the holes in the strap were such that it never fit my ankle properly because it was too big. I ended up making a hole in the strap instead and it fits better but I am still not satisfied.

These are very common in dance and theater shoes! Since they're designed for quick changes offstage. I like these kind of buckles a lot. When you pull the strap taut, the hook should slide under and be hidden by the real buckle.

this. My shoes with hook and buckle are the ones that never rip the holes.

I think >>7634897 was referring to the white stuff holding the buckle to the back of the shoe (not the shoe strap). It does look suspiciously like white elastic.

Why would you attach a white strap to a pink shoe? Move the buckle along the strap if you need to resize the strap, the elastic will probably become loose over time anyway, so I don't see any point in ruining lovely pink shoes with a piece of white elastic.

maybe so they can have a little stretch? I own a pair of shoes with such hooks as well. One hole is juuust a little too tight when I walk, tho the next one is so loose for me the hook actually falls off the strap. Had to punch in another hole.
