It's a shoulder bone. It does not contain any marrow. No point in splitting it.

I'm looking at some marrow in OP's pic. Besides, splitting the bones gets more surface area. I say crush them to pieces. and strain it well when you're done.

This. OP admitted to not being a good cook and make a naive mistake.

I don't know what to do with shoulder bone, but i make homemade chicken broth literally with the scraps that doesn't get eaten and it has 1000000000% less sodium in it then the stuff you'd get at the grocer; just be sure to use it rather quickly. I'll typically make chicken soup with the broth, whatever meat is leftover from the night before, with carrots, potatoes, celery, etc.

what is your recipe? I made this but the beans wouldn't cook after 4 hours so I took a blender to it
