BIC mods Anonymous 05/19/14(Mon)06:19 UTC+1 No.640201 Report

is it possible to mod a bic lighter into a torch lighter? I know you can open the valve to increase the size of the flame, but I want to mod it into a true blue (pun intended) torch lighter. I have access to a plethora of tools and materials if it involves heavy modification, seems like it would be neat if its even possible.

I may be very very wrong, but purely guessing:
Those torch lighters may have two tanks: one for the fuel (butane) and the other for an oxidiser? And that's why they act exactly like mini oxys?

Can anyone confirm/deny this?

They do not, I have a creme brulee torch and it only uses butane as fuel. The way it creates a jet flame is with the nozzles inside it, not the fuel its using.

so you're asking if a lighter that burns lighter fluid can be modified into being a butane lighter? the answer is no (well, maybe somebody makes one that can, but no to the cheap bic ones).

Its all about the way the fuel is combusted, im sure you can do it, just requires you to cannibalize parts from torch lighters or make them yourself.

Judging by what this guy is saying, then yes, you could probably mod a bic to burn like a torch lighter. Just go buy a torch lighter, remove nozzle, attach to bic, then live the rest of your life a happy man

OP here, i've already tried attaching the focusing nozzle from a torch lighter onto the bic's nozzle, it does not produce a jet flame, I need a part that mixes oxygen with the gas before it combusts. gonna deconstruct this torch some more and see if I can use the mixing chamber as well.
