/gd/, what are some tutorial websites, or other references to become better at realistic design. I really only thing I'm decent at simple/metro/2d/dribbble art, but when it comes to making some like realistic stone textured text with great lighting on it or whatever, I just end up with some beginner PS layer style. horny shit.

My advice is to play around with layer styles. Consider where your light is coming from and everything should be based around that. I learned to use them by just googling tutorials and downloading the source file. You need tutorials that have the layer styles in place and you can just download it. Then change the word and font...putting it on a different background and tweaking it. See how the tut works and modify it for your own uses. Change the texture and light direction....see how the styles react.

Light is absolutely everything here.
