Hey /gd/. I'm fairly new to Graphic Design so I was wondering if you could give me some tips. Firstly is Gimp better than Paint.net? Or are there any other good free programs? I used Paint.net to make this wallpaper but I still have got little whit pixels on her edges as well as some major banding on the background. How can I fix this?

As far as free alternatives to Photoshop go, I believe GIMP comes the closest, although Photoshop is still the best overall. You can do some decent work with GIMP while you're learning.
