Hi /gd/

I currently study software engineering at University, and my focus is web development.

It recently occurred to me that learning graphics design would be in my best interest.

I've downloaded GIMP and played around with it, but I'm not quite sure how to proceed. What's the best way to learn graphics design using GIMP? Are there any good tutorials out there or do I have to look for snippets of info around the web?

Graphic design is a mindset and a process, GIMP is simply a tool used to solve problems, problems that have to do with raster images. As a web developer you should learn a firm grasp of color theory and layout design.

At the most basic level you should learn the four principals of what makes things look nice. I got this from a quick google search.

If you understand CSS but feel its difficult to grasp its implementation, you may like this

Your feedback is much appreciated!

I will give both of those a read, thank you.

Gimp isn't that good for web design. Although there aren't really many free alternatives that do it better.
