need to take screenshots quickly in a fixed region using 128 colors or less
>can't figure out how to do it in greenshot or irfanview
>try to post on greenshot blog or sourceforge forum
>everything greenshot related you can post on is down for me
>try irfanview forum

does anyone know a software program that can take screenshots quickly in a fixed region using 128 colors or less?

>Photoshop?

too long; didn't do.
i need to do this with over 100's and 1000's of images.

>Also look into Puu.sh

>puush.me
>drm that requires you to be logged in to use it
>not using goods instead of "services"
>can't customize filename to include time and stuff like greenshot and irfanview
>can't quickly take screenshots of a fixed region like greenshot and irfanview
>you have to select the region with your mouse manually every time
>no option to not upload files to their website and only store files locally
>not even an option to save the image as 256 colors or less like greenshot

puush.me seems to be inferior to what's being used now.

thanks anyway anon.

I don't know about you, but photoshop can do stuff in batches. Just set an action and you're set.

puush is far superior if all you're doing is taking a screenshot (since it uses 1mb ram at most, rather than 100mb or whatever than greenshot uses) But for more advanced things like you're doing, it definitely is inferior.

image name....... User Name CPU . Memory ... Description
puush.exe *32 ... User .... 00 .. 636 K .... puush
i_view.exe *32 .. User .... 00 .. 2980 K ... IrfanView
Greenshot.exe ... User .... 00 .. 10688 K .. Greensoht
firefox.exe *32 . User .... 00 .. 980000 K . Firefox
svchost.exe ..... SYSTEM .. 00 .. 113676 K . Host Process for Windows Serivces
explorer.exe .... User .... 00 .. 106320 K . Windows Explorer

so puush is 0.62 MB, irfanview is 2.91 MB, greenshot is 10.43 MB.
pretty neglible considering how much others use normally.
also i downloaded all the plugins for irfanview package
and i selected all the upload sites enabled with greenshot
even tho i don't use them
because i'm not gonna reinstall it if i need it later
since pretty much all pc's can handle what little it is anyway.

i think puush wants people to viral market and advertise for it for free
by only letting you upload to their site
and having to be logged in all the time and it looks like it's working.
unlike greenshot and other programs but whatever.

i'd settle for puush or anything if it had file name and date formatting,
and lt you capture the last region or a set region,
instead of having to reselect everything again,
like greenshot and irfanview have.
and greenshot's 256 color setting but with 128 colors.

How quickly is quickly?

You could set up a mouse / keyboard macro to print screen, paste into new document, crop / convert colors and save that could probably be executed in 3-4 seconds depending on the speed of your computer.

like less than 1 second

and depending on what tasks it's already doing

i'm actually trying microsoft visual studio 2010
and editing the greenshot source code in it and compiling it

i've never done this before and i have no idea what i'm doing
but i don't seem to have much else of a choice
