Anonymous 10/01/14(Wed)18:46 UTC+1 No.178525 Report

this fucking should be deleted. activity is near zero, and all I've ever seen are threads asking "hey guys how do I get this effect?"

do you even graphic design? get the fuck out of photoshop, that shit is not design. why reduce your job to a computer operator? get real

I doubt this board has more bad-quality posts than others, there's just, as you say, no activity.
but hey, that's no reason it should be deleted. A few major threads in this board are active and quite nice.

There's quieter boards, what the hell do you expect? I personally find it interesting if slow. Know of any better gd forums?

Reddit can be a good place to talk about shit like this, it's only bad if you look at the retarded subs, much like 4chan.

That is fucking stupid. It's like telling carpenters to leave their saws at home.

Graphic design is art + technology, how the fuck are you supposed to do that without software. ridiculous.

some of those points are pretty good, but that is retarded, and it doesn't even offer an alternative.

This is fucking brilliant.

The point isn't to "avoid software," it's to stop thinking of software as the first line tool. I've been working for 10 years and I've gotten to a point where I don't go to the computer until I absolutely have to. Either that, or I program something generative myself. But the software is just a tool for arranging ideas I came up with outside of it. Fuck yeah to this whole list.

Anonymous 10/03/14(Fri)05:51 UTC+1 No.178766 Report

>>178718
You are not your tools.

Graphic design is not art + technology. It's art + availability. The sooner you release yourself from your tools, the sooner you will start to make interesting work. It's your job to come up with alternatives. That's what makes it an alternative.

Board doesn't work well b/c:

1)There are youtube/online tutorials for everything.

2) This board is unaccountably conservative in its design preference. A lot of weird and new styles get shot down right away. A lot of the people here seem to think we all want to learn how to design for CocaCola or something.

3) This board would work if you all played and made stuff and didn't worry so much about making stuff that could be sold to lames

Be right back, going to try and compete with an old printing press, some angles, mechanical pencil and a scalpel.

Or better yet maybe I should learn C and compile my own alternative to Adobe Creative Suite.

I've played Photoshop tennis with you guy's, went down okay.

People seem willing to discuss each others work here as long as you don't expect people to do it for you. Also people are willing to give advice on how to achieve certain effects and stuff. It's all good to me baby.

way to dumb down the discussion, retard. nobody said go back to printing press, so you just go ahead and throw in the most extremely laughable example, right?

everyone uses software, but as a tools to execute once the design process is complete. stay underpaid, son.
