Hi /k/

I want to buy a decent, cheap rifle that I can use at a range until I get more comfortable and dump money into some real shit. Price range is < $300, maybe more if I'm absolutely sold on something. I'm a sucker for bolt action rifles and older guns (WW2-Vietnam).

The only gun I've ever owned was a Savage Mk2 (bolt-action .22, pic related), but that was a few years ago.

Looked into Mosin-Nagant 91/30 but after reading here for the last hour it I'm not 100% sure on it.

Would would you recommend? And for fucks sake teach me how to not be an idiot about these things.

since it's been a while, I'd recommend another .22. I'm not trying to be a macho dick, but if you haven't been shooting for a while, you will develop a flinch you can't get rid of if you start with something bigger. If you don't want to spend your money on a .22 'cause you won't have enough for a "real" gun, find a range that rents.

I've shot guns since then, just haven't owned any and never bought any other than the .22. Will probably go to a range and rent something soon either way.

Definitely set on looking for a 'real' gun.
