I'm finishing up my film based on "The Metamorphosis" is there anything I should know about this cunt or his work that I don't already know?

What do you already know?

Also if your film doesn't have subtle references to Kafka's correspondence with his fiancé about how much he loved her farts then I'll be very disappointed

I think that was some other guy but I could be wrong

Tuberculosis was historically associated with repressed sexual passion and masturbation. Kafka famously felt guilty and ashamed constantly, and failed to marry his sweetheart before he died due to timidity.

Wasn't that Joyce?

All I know about Kafka is from that DFW interview where he said Kafka used to laugh at his own stories so loudly that the neighbours were complaining.

the asbestos factory probably had something to do with it as well

He died of tuberculosis, of course. I meant that he didn't marry before he died, because he was too timid.

yeah I'm really trying to capture the humor in the metamorphosis, everyone tries to portray his work as incredibly dark depressing

Are you telling me that my dear and delicate Franz Kafka worked in as asbestos factory?
>>
Anonymous 07/26/14(Sat)20:03 UTC+1 No.5193479 Report

So what I'm basically saying OP, is that Franz Kafka literally died because he jacked off too much and The Metamorphosis was a prediction of his own death.

apparently he was really insecure and probably had a really small dick

he said he hated sex, and he would go to nude spas with his friends because it was popular but he would wear a swimsuit like a faggot

he still had a bunch of affairs though, even though he said sex was a "punishment"

not as a worker on the floor but I assume he was actually physically in the factory

Nope. He died of masturbation and The Metamorphosis is about his family dealing with his masturbation addiction.

Brilliant. One of the better critical essays about Kafka I read interpreted him as primarily a humorist. Latter day intell-eck-jewels (Agamben, Deleuze) picked up the thread. I wish I could remember who wrote it. It might have been one of those stodgy old literary critics like Bradley.

You should know he asked his friend Max Brod to burn all of his writings on his deathbed.

What was going through his mind when he asked Max to burn everything.

yeah read letter to his father, paints a picture of his own home life and gives gregor samsa's a slightly different spin (if you believe he would self-insert to an extent, which if you've read the trial you should)

by self insert i should really be saying write or be influenced by experiences or something of the sort
although its too late if youve finished the movie
