Yeah touring is fine here, bikepacking too. :3

Pretty much any bike is OK for touring, as long as it has some semblance of quality. A good starting point is the travellingtwo website, which gave me some good pointers.

-build your own bike, learn how everything goes together.
-start small, do weekend trips. refine your gear.
-touring is not a race.
-find a way to make money while touring.

-don't blindly follow ACA maps across country.

>>290373Make sure that...
Make sure that it fit's you well. That cost of a proper fit from a shop will help hugely, more comfy and faster.

Also SPD pedals are wonderful if you haven't given them a try.

I'm going touring in the outer Hebrides with a mate in the summer. Have a great trip OP!

Been using it for gravel grinding and stuff like that, plan to go touring this summer if I get a job so I can afford it.

While knowing how to fix your bike can be very useful, buying the pieces of a bike is often significantly more expensive than buying a premade bike.

Just get on your bike and...
Just get on your bike and ride, man. I got all this shit for free, slept on the side of the road and had almost no.money. you'll be fine.

Lessons learned:
You don't need much gear. Eat, sleep, tools.
Have a bike that fits you. My knees hurt constantly after a while.
Carry a map and ask for.directions everywhere you go. If you can talk, people will buy you things and give you money.

how far did you go?
